11. I've read that there is unreleased video from the security cameras
Have there been any witness statements?
Apparently it was very crowded.

14. Please excuse my error- you're 100% correct! I meant to say...
...that nothing's been released yet. Sorry 'bout that.

I believe the video, when released, will be damning of the policeman in question.

16. There's video only of the entrance
Don't quote me on this, but I remember reading that the security camera is positioned at the entrance, so it captured McKinney entering, but didn't show the altercation between the two within the building.

27. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing if that is true.
I'm not taking anything for granted unless the tape comes out.

8. I'm almost positive there is.
I'm fairly certain they video all entrances. Whether or not the incident occured within view of the camera, I don't know.

that's for sure.
But most likely the whole thing is recored by security cams.

5. Course not -- they won't release anything until after an investigation...
At least, not if they can help it. Particularly in a case wherein the incident involves a fellow cop, the police almost never release any evidence until after an investigation. And, I believe, they would be the ones most likely holding any footage of this incident, from any security cameras that filmed the metal detector at the entryway.

18. Absolutely.. Every square inch of the Capital in under surveillance
I would guess they're not releasing the tape because it shows no "assault" and the Republicans said not to release it.

7. I heard there is a video from a security camera, but
that it will not be released. Why is anyone's guess, but I'm guessing it shows what really happened, and that would not be to the benefit of the police.

Message to McKinney: PLEASE wear your lapel pin, and flash them your I.D. as well in the future. They are pea brains, you cannot expect them to have good memories. The fact that they are protecting our country from terra is more than a bit concerning, but...let's make it as easy on them as possible, K?

13. Here is my post on the video. The video is inconclusive.
A security video shows McKinney entering the building and moving around the metal detector and X-ray machine.

It does not show her encounter with the police officer, according to officials familiar with it.

29. "Officials" tell us what's in the video.
But they won't release it. It could be that the video adds no information, but I'm skeptical, and I sure as hell won't be taking their word for it.

15. AOL has a front page headline stating police may charge McKinney,
there was not article, only a video but didn't play it because have dial-up and very frustrating this week trying to play Feingold hearing, there was one on DU that played beautifully, Feingold's opening statements and I downloaded all three of the audio files on Feingold's Senate site and wanted more.

MSNBC, C&L, Can o Fun and vids on Feingold's site are troublesome so I rarely watch online news clips.

17. What ever he or she did I think this is un-lady like and she----
should have made a private complaint and done as he said first. Who cares if she felt she was treated bad. Will not be the first time a women has been pushed around by some petty person in power. She her self has a lot of power and could have had this guys job in a minute. Sounds like temper from both. And all done badly.

19. "Un-lady like"? "Who cares if she felt she was treated bad?"
"Will not be the first time a women has been pushed around"

So of course, in the face of being pushed around and treated badly, SHE should have acted more "lady like". What's that exactly? Bowing before him, lowering her eyes, humbly submitting to what perhaps she felt was a threat?

Please tell me you haven't thought this post through.

26. Do not laugh. When one had no power you learned other ways.
It has worked. Not paying lawyers also seems like a good move. This lady has to pay for her lawyer and I bet the policeman had Congress paying his.

25. Well I sure would have used my power as a Congress women
but not to make a nut case of my self in front of every one. She would have made her point better to do as he said and jumped on him from her place in power from behind. She had the good place. Black women being pushed around by a policeman. But then I am an old women and look at it in my place and time.

21. It's interesting that Congress doesn't have video of this.
Not so much that they're hiding anything but that the buildings aren't as guarded with video as I'd assume. After 9/11, I'd have guessed that there would be video cameras planted all over their buildings.

It is ironic though that they want to record every move that WE make. Where's the video surveillance of our governemnt? They're the first individuals that we should be taping!
