I'm listening to AAR... Franken is saying that Kaloogian is now sayig that the "military" asked that non-descript photos be used for security reasons... to account for the selection of the photo.

Wait... I thought that the photo was ACCIDENTLY chosen by the webmaster, who had MISTAKEN it for Baghdad! Now he is saying that an alterntive location was posted to represent Baghdad instead of an ACTUAL photo, per the US military's request? What?

for a couple of reasons.

1. There were no shots that would look benign, 'with-it', untraumatized, normal, casual.
2. Their movement was carefully restricted.

one or some of them chose photos that they believed would never be recognized. Because? Because their level of cultural awareness was used to judge levels of cultural awareness of others - and specifically, who those who they thought were their readers.
