The Republicans are TRAITORS
by: Maryscott O'Connor
March 31, 2006 at 08:41:12 America/Los_Angeles

<snip>

Watching the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Feingold's censure resolution, I am struck, ONCE AGAIN, by the abysmal lack of integrity of the Republicans in Congress.

They have made their stand, behind the most criminal, deceitful and incompetent President in the history of the United States of America -- and they will not be moved. Not by facts, not by arguments, not by the very Constitution they swore to uphold and defend.

In this execrable display of mindless partisanship, the Republicans in Congress neither uphold nor defend that Constitution. It is patently clear that the Republicans hold partisanship above all else -- above truth, above country, above the Constitution.

They are traitors. They are GUILTY OF TREASON AGAINST THEIR COUNTRY.

2. And the dams that didn't back Feingold up, just let him run with the ball
by himself (and of course one, count them, ONE) other senator who found the decency and integrity to put his ass on the line as well. What are they?

5. Oh Yeah... Our 'Fearless' Dem Leaders Are Close To Looking...
as stupid as their Republican counterparts.

If they'd get their asses out of Washington, and away from their oh-so-cautious advisers, they might find out that the American people have had more than a bellyful, and are siding with Feingold!

IOW - The Dems are in danger of not being taken seriously, if they don't step up soon.

6. They also are irresponsible and unaccountable
A lot of damage has been done to our country _and_ our Constitution as a result of the GOP being in control.

7. ANYBODY who stands complacent with what our government is doing is a
traitor and that makes the fucking Democrats (overall) worse than the Republicans. Hey until I say the entire party unite behind a message that demands the bush crime family be put in a federal pound me in the ass prison for their crimes against America and humanity I will feel this way.

As far as I'm concerned the only thing worse than a criminal is the person who has a chance to stop the crime and does nothing.

8. I have to agree - they are as guilty as the President as accomplices
I can't think of a more disgraceful time in our history. Even Nixon owned up to his mistakes and resigned. We know how much the Republicans HATED him for doing that. They WILL NOT be swayed this time - EVEN IF it means the destruction of our democracy and the resultant civil unrest that follows. Traitors is an apt description of such people.

11. I can't imagine a higher crime..
.. than specifically breaking a law that's intended for the executive branch - repeatedly.

Then categorically stating that you'll keep on doing it.

Then saying that if you call them on it, they'll call you a traitor.

Mind blowing.

14. It has been suggested that DUers tone down the posts that convey contempt
for the rethug party and its members. I disagree.

The republican party has abandoned many of its members. The republican party used to be The Party of Lincoln.
Herb Caen used to joke that they were now the party of stretch Lincolns.
The leaders of the republican party, and those who CHOOSE to follow them, have come down clearly on the side of corporations and the uber-rich.
They show nothing but contempt for democracy, for women, for the poor, for the disabled and infirmed, for the environment, for health care, for the middle class, for gay people and "minorities", for consumers, for national laws and the Constitution, for international law, for human decency, for human life ....
How many am I leaving out?

The name calling, it appears to me anyway, is about what the republican party is doing.
To remain a republican, under these circumstances, is to choose *that* side and to choose those "values".

If the Democratic party were the one that switched to all the law-breaking and lying and murdering, I would leave them in a heart beat.

We can't all be expected to "play nice" while we're being run over by Mack trucks. Or hold all our anger inside and suffer the health consequences of doing that.

This is an American issue. When will those "republicans" who *are* alarmed at what has happened decide to put their Americanism above their republican party affiliation?

16. That is So True
Bush goes against everything this country is supposed to stand for, & the Republicans in Congress just let him do it. Since they are helping him destroy democracy in America, I would say that qualifies as treason. But what about those "wimpy" Democrats in Congress who don't stand up to him? What are they guilty of?
