Why Hasn't The Delay Scandal Snarred Others In Congress?
As the details of the Delay matter become available its clear that the man was corrupt to the core That is very good for all the people who despised him before they had facts to back up their earlier suppositions.

I recall reading that Delay's real power in the Republican Party came from his being the money hub for dispersing routine campaign funds for the party. Basically that no incumbant (or selected opposition candidate) was going to get a dime from the Republican Party unless Delay said yes. That, it would seem to me, would make this a very wide spread corruption case indeed. So far, however, all we really have is Delay. This is outside of the Abramoff thing, I'm just talking about Delay and his spreading of the wealth inside of the Congress. Why isn't that bringing them out of the woodwork like the other case is?

1. Think of what happens when bush pardons them all - for the good of the
country.
You know, his "I'm a uniter, not a divider" speech. And his reasoning will be that all these pesky indictments are dividing the country.

2. The wheels of justice grind slowly
but exceedingly fine. Many more will be ensnared by their past deeds. This is only the point of true beginning.

Patience, young Jedi. All things shall be revealed, in due time.

4. Because the only active prosecution against him is in Texas
and involves the skirting/defiance of Texas campaign finance laws.

All of the other scandals we are reading about - appear not to be the focus of prosecution, at least at this time. Until they are subject to prosecution - the web can't get drawn in because their is nothing to get drawn into.

I suspect, however, the Abramoff prosecution will lead to prosecutions and active investigations against DeLay and co. Then all the other folks have to get scared.

5. and bad for the people that defended him
a short time ago, all dem criticism of Delay was answered by charges that "they hate him because he's effective."

And the people that defended Delay includes George W. Bush, who less than a month ago declared that Delay was innocent.

6. There should be a rash of "accidents"
occurring in the Republican party soon. Those not yet revealed will break the chain of squealers and send a message to others with proofs to be silent. Many of these crooks have killed before.
