How do you get a donkey's attention?
Back in the old days, before cars, when some people owned donkeys and mules, some would say that the only way to get those beasts of burden's attention was to hit them right between the eyes with a two-by-four.

I have never subscribed to animal cruelty. I am only using this behavior as a reference. But, I believe that it applies to the donkeys who are our dem leadership. The total lack of support and the run for cover attitude concerning the Feingold Censure hearing this morning was a total disgrace. It showed me that our leaders are still playing cover your ass, hand wringing, don't upset the apple cart games. These assholes DO NOT HAVE THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE PEOPLE AT HEART! They clearly are worried about their cushy little jobs.

What we democrats need is a blunt instrument to hit these son-of-bitches right between the eyes with, in order to get their attention, because clearly, they still don't get it.

It cannot be the witholding of money, because that hurts us all. It is imperative that we take back congress this fall.

Which leads me to believe that the only wayto move these people off their ass is an accellerated phone call and write in campaign. Our voices need to he heard . We need to scream at our political leaders to stand up like leaders, and not stay seated like the cowards they are.

Most of us here at DU do that. We call our congressional offices. Hell, some here even camp out at them. But for those who lurk, or who converse, but do little, it is time to act.

CALL THE SENATORS YOU ARE DISPLEASED WITH! CALL THE CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS WHO LACK THE LEADERSHIP YOU YEARN FOR! WRITE LETERS TO THE EDITOR! NOT JUST ONE LETTER, BUT AT LEAST ONE A WEEK! CALL IN TO TALK RADIO! E-MAIL THE HELL OUT OF PEOPLE!

And for those of us who do these things, I ask that we ramp things up and do more of it.

This is the only two-by-four that I can think of. Oh, and please take the time, if you haven't already done so to express you thanks and support to those who DO get it, like Russ Feingold, a REAL American leader. I may or may not support a Feingold bid for the presidency. I am still waiting for Al Gore. But I will tell you that I am proud to have Russ as one of my leaders.

Any other suggestions would be most welcome.

3. I'd settle for Pelosi and Reid resigning their positions
God, they're both terrible on TV.

New blood!

5. They are terrible and weak.
I had hopes for Pelosi. How disappointing. I never had any hope for Reid.
And he hasn't disappointed me. Out with both of them.

7. I think they're decent as a senator and a rep, but NOT as leaders
I groan every time I watch Harry try to read every word he has to say, and each word packs the same weak punch.
