The Religous Right Has A List Of Demands!!!!
I am certain that the separation of Church and State is now a fallacy in our heads.

'Values voters' call for congressional action
By Julia Duin
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

A summit of evangelical Christians and conservative Catholic and Jewish activists yesterday produced a "Values Voters' Contract with Congress," an outline of what the religiously minded expect their elected representatives to bring about in the near future.

Modeled after the Republican Party's 1994 "Contract with America," the "Values Voters' Contract" stipulated 10 aims, ranging from legislation to keep the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance to laws guaranteeing greater religious freedoms in the workplace, prohibiting human cloning and embryo research, and guaranteeing a "right to life" to all children before birth.

"It's time for the values voters to tell the government what we expect of them," said the Rev. Rick Scarborough, founder of the Lufkin, Texas-based Vision America, which organized the summit. "This contract tells Congress they can count on our vote if these things become front-burner issues."

It also addresses President Bush, Mr. Scarborough added. "With all this discussion of marriage before the election," he said, "we just heard a State of the Union message where there was no mention of a marriage amendment."

The "contract" was released at a "War on Christians and the Values Voters in 2006" conference at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, where speakers painted a gloomy picture of a war by "neo-pagans" against "values voters" for about 300 listeners.

4. This is good news
The Religious right should be demanding and intractable. That is a large part of their base, after all. The more disillusioned they are about their representatives, well the better it is for us.

5. When are they going to demand a right to a good life to children
AFTER they exit the womb?

You know, by helping their parents with healthcare, forcing Congress to reward companies who don't outsource so the child's parents aren't left without work, funding stem-cell research so the child may grow up into a future where some fatal diseases can be cured... that sort of thing.

Are they going to demand the end of wars? The end of killing brown-skinned people of other faiths?

Stupid fundies wouldn't know a 'right to life' if it hit 'em between the eyes.

7. What is "greater religious freedom in the workplace"?
Someone can hire or fire based on religion?

Someone can proselytize in the workplace as protected religious expression?

An employer can expect certain religious observances of employees during work time?

That would certainly go a long way to protecting the "sanctity of marriage" AND perfectly match up with the teachings of Jesus!

11. Yes values, values, values...............
Keep the underlings in check and frothing at the mouth just in time for the elections. We may even have to stage a flag-burning to really make their blood boil. Throw in a few bibles and crosses too while you're at it for good measure. :sarcasm:

Don't talk about the values of Christian compassion and love. Talk about how those EVIL SECULAR HUMANISTS are destroying this country. If it were only this easy to rally the Left.

Rick Scarborough, huh? Wonder if he's related to Joe, "Dead Intern"Scarborough?

13. Onward "christian" soldiers... What could the founders have done?
From February 21 to September 17, 1787, there were some 208 days. At any time, on any day, any delegate could have declared that the United States of America was a Christian nation based upon supreme Christian law. The measure would likely have passed. But they never did it? I wonder why? In fact, the very first addition to the document they ultimately produced, assured us that no single religion would ever become the law of the land. What were they thinking?

... "war" being waged upon them. Their view of reality is simply warped.

Maybe if they weren't such a threat to our national ideal of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, they might get a better reception in civil society.

"Values voters"? Whose values? The Taliban? These people are a threat to America itself, and they have the nerve to claim some sort of moral high-ground?

First one: All politicians must stop pandering to the lunatic fringe aka, The Christian Right.

Second one: All politicians should IGNORE the Christian Right

Third one: The media should treat them like the fractional niche of americans they are. Being loud doesn't increase one's numbers.

17. It is always impressive just how weak their faith is...somehow losing "in
God we trust" on our money is a threat to their faith! So little faith in their own sexuality and marriages that they think someone else's sexuality or marriage can destroy their own by osmosis! WEAK people.

2. TO SECURE our national interest in the institutions of marriage and family, we call for the passage of –
A constitutional amendment to completely protect the institution of marriage; and
The Marriage Protection Act to prohibit activist judges from forcing states to redefine the institution of marriage (H.R. 1100).
