I know the Democrats have no real power in Congress right now. But why aren't they speaking out in unison about the crimes of the administration?
I just don't get it. They are letting Bush get away with crimes heretofore unimagined.

| 2. They're hoping bush and the Congressional Republicans..... |

will implode all by themselves and that they'll never have to fire a shot, they'll keep their infamous "powder dry". That way they appear clean and above the frey. I think it's a risky strategy and hope it doesn't backfire. We can't afford another day of Republican rule. The historical reaction by the minority party when blood is in the water is to attack like hungry sharks. The Democrats, at this point, are acting more like the remoras that cling to the sharks.

The remora analogy is the most accurate.

I wonder if the Dems are being threatened with dirt dug up by the wiretaps, spying and what not. Wonder what they've done that they are desperate to hide?

| 5. They're still scared of a "backlash" |
|
That's the only reason that I see. A couple years ago, even though everything was still going poorly, they couldn't really be outspoken about what Bush had done because of the whole "we're in war, you need to support our president, yadda yadda." But now, after even more failures, the majority of Americans don't approve of our president either. Yet, they are still scared to speak out. I can *maybe* understand it, because as someone said, he and the other Republicans have basically been digging themselves a grave. They could speak out (which I wish they would do, on a more unified level), but I imagine they're scared of a backlash that will propel his ratings higher, and possibly cause them to lose ground in the Congressional elections coming up.
But after these elections, whether or not they take the Senate/House back (I'm almost sure they'll take at least the House back), if they don't start speaking out about this president and drilling it home for the two years afterwards, I'm gonna be pissed.

The Republican party is self destructing. It is better to sit back and watch rather then risk alienating those swing voters in the middle by an all out attack when that attack can not be backed up with action. I think that after we take back the house in November we will see real investigations into their crimes.

The 4 of them have managed to trick many americans with propaganda and they are MASTERS at it. They could turn it around to make themselves somehow look like victims. It's better to be aware of what most Americans think on the whole than just hot under the collar activist Dems who want to do the right thing by pursuing their activities because they know what the truth is and most americans don't/don't care. After November.
