3. CNN said there were "thousands," and they were stopping traffic.
Curb to curb people as far as the eye can see, and Kyra Idiot "thinks"
they're stopping traffic?

Duh.

We had an antiwar march this weekend and the turnout was nothing like that!

12. Okay, thanks
Just to clarify, I was meaning comprehensive immigration reform (good for immigrants) as opposed to shutting down the borders (PUB immigration reform).

But I understand now! That's GREAT! I wish I was there!

9. Know what I think we should do? I'll tell ya...
We should organize something here so DUers could write the Republican Reps and Senators strongly urging them to vote for whatever onerous immigration bills to come.

If the 'pubs could force a bill through, their party would be absolutely destroyed from Florida to California - maybe nationwide - for decades to come.

There would be rioting in the streets and the blame would fall on the GOP.

This thing today is amazing.

Ten times more participants than the organizers expected.

would be considered good? For who?

23. The bill would never pass, but it would deny the 'pubs the Hispanic
support they so desperately seek and need.

Business interests would never allow an immigration bill to succeed.

One week without illegal immigrant labor would send this country into an economic tailspin from which it could never recover. That is, if we're not already there.

15. Kick! Only one recommendation? This needs attention, NOW!
The Latinos in my county have been gearing up for this all month. Our Out Of Iraq march was 75% brown people, with only a smathering of well-known county political pundits present...that one march was a clear example of grassroots feelings in our area. Jump on the bandwagon or be left behind!

I'm all for immigration, but I am against illegal immigration.

What exactly are they protesting? If they are protesting for the right to come here illegally, I'm not with them at all...

19. Sensenbrenner's legislation.
I don't agree entirely with it since it is pretty draconian. And it's really stupid. He's making an already illegal activity into an illegal activity. Go figure. With Rs its all in the packaging. There has to be a way to enforce the existing immigration and employment laws. I have no problem with immigration, but there are laws that govern it and they need to be followed.

20. CNN - A/P: Huge crowds march against immigration bill
Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 03:07 PM by Synnical
http://edition.cnn.com/2006/US/03/24/immigration.protest.ap/

PHOENIX, Arizona (AP) -- Thousands of immigrant rights supporters filled a major Phoenix thoroughfare Friday morning as they marched toward the office of U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl in a rally call for a more humane reform of immigration laws.

"They're here for the American Dream," said Malissa Greer, 29, who joined the crowd estimate by police to be at least 10,000 strong. "God created all of us. He's not a God of the United States, he's a God of the world."

Lawmakers have been considering bills that, among other things, would make it a felony to be illegally in the United States, impose new penalties on employers who hire illegal immigrants and erect fences along one-third of the U.S.-Mexican border.

The proposals have angered many in the Hispanic community.

22. Also marching against the war in Iraq ...

Don't know if you remember Fernando Suarez del Solar. He was one of first group of military parents who publically opposed the Iraqi war. He lost his son in early 2003 one of the first casualties. Fernando also joined Cindy Sheehan in Crawford. Anyhow I think its cool that he is doing this 241 mile march to add to the growing "Latino Voices" against this war.

3/12-27: California Latino March for Peace with Fernando Suarez and Pablo Paredes
URL: www.guerreroazteca.org

Daily weblog: http://www.PeaceNoWar.net/marchforpeace.html

OBJECTIVE: A 241 mile march that aims at ensuring that the Latino voice of opposition to the War is heard loud and clear across the Americas.

WHAT/ WHEN: Fernando Suarez del Solar, Pablo Paredes, Camilo Mejia and Aidan Delgado will lead a coalition of the willing across this 241 mile quest for peace starting in Tijuana, Mexico, going through Marine Corps Depot Camp Pendleton to the Cesar Chavez burial site in La Paz, CA, culminating in The Mission district of San Francisco with a memorial ceremony and blood drive.

The March will begin on 12 March 2006. The coalition of the willing will arrive at La Paz, CA on 22 March 2006 and culminate in San Francisco from 26 March 2006 to 27 March 2006.

WHY: Latinos represent nearly 15% of the US population and 11% of the US military, with many serving in combat or hazardous duty occupations. In addition, an estimated 20% of the fallen service members in the early months of the invasion were Latino. With the continued growth of the Latino population and its vital importance to the future of this country, it is time the Latino community become an active and vocal part of the 60%+ of US citizens that oppose this War. It is also time to show the Latino community that they have a voice and a right to fight for peace and stability. Fernando Suarez Del Solar is committed to self-sacrifice. At 50 years of age he cares more about ending this war than even his own health. We make this call not only to the Latino population but to all those who agree with our message 'No more bloodshed in Iraq'.

25. Latinos have recently become a majority in Texas..
Imagine the possibilities.

Bush's war, and bushCo policies could soon turn this red state a very beautiful blue.

A powerful and undeniable force to have despising the ground BushCo walks on.
