I am now certain that Bush's "base" are evil brain-dead fucktards.

Then again, some of them are just desperate liars who refuse to say they disapprove of anything Bush is doing, because they know he needs them to support him because he is failing.

That is dishonest.

I will answer this poll honestly.

If they ask me, "Do you approve or disapprove of the way Bush handled the anti-telemarketing act," I will say I approve. Actually, I have mixed feelings about it, but I'm feeling generous.

Other than that, everything he's done is shit.

It looks to me like this poll - at least the "official" portion - is a done deal. Although we can vote, it's largely for our own benefit to compare our answers to the original poll numbers. I didn't notice if it said when the poll was done, but if it was done in the past few days, that could explain it. There have been a lot of news stories about Katrina money going to the wrong people - people who filed twice or who weren't supposed to file at all because they weren't actually affected by Katrina.

Many Americans have a tendency to react in a very specific way to that kind of news - they start seeing recipients in general as people trying to get something for nothing instead of seeing that some con artists got some $$$ while many suffering people are still largely left to their own devices. We saw this all over and over again when the RW would drag up some welfare queen who was scamming the system. While the majority of welfare recipients were actually qualified and living at a level so far below poverty, they needed a ladder to climb out, the image of the woman with a lazy shiftless husband driving a Cadillac to load up with luxury items at the taxpayers' expense just would not die.
