"I'm not serving in Iraq because I prefer to serve here at home."
"I prefer to serve my country through politics."

THAT is the typical excuse spewed forth by 20 something chickenhawks who won't enlist and fight in a war they SUPPORT. What would you say in response to that BULLSHIT line?

I remember a Washington Journal show a few months ago when a college freeper and a college Democrat were on and the above quote is what the college freeper replied to a caller who asked him why he wasn't fighting in Irag. The college Democrat just sat there with no come-back. She had NOTHING to say to the little chickenhawk.

What would you say to someone who used that as an excuse?

40. Ooh, I LIKE that one
The spoiled little wimps wouldn't dare walk up to a guy who's had his legs blown off and tell him, "I support the war, and I'm doing my part over here."

Even if they tried it, they would soon be flattened by enraged vets in wheelchairs.

10. I'd say...
Thankfully, the patriots that fought in the American Revolution didnt have your love of comfort (hits them on their own argument).

An alternative would be, courage is measured by a willingness to sweat and bleed for one's principles, not one's willingness to pay for cable internet and chat on a message board.

Perhaps the best reply could be, those who sit back and let others courageously fight for their convictions, have neither.

unlike you 20 know-nothings, I can speak from experience. Here's something to tell 'em - how bout you kids STFU and finish college, if you can (been there, done that). Quiz Mr. 20 something and you will find that they don't know shit about the world. I don't like humiliating younger people, but sometimes kids need to be put in their place; sometimes adults do too.

20. Why not challenge them with the truth........
.....as in, not asking a question but rather making a statement. All politicians who support war should be the first to enlist and be sent to the front lines, defective equipment or not.

21. Well ...
If you believe in this war, how do you propose to fight it and win it by serving your country 'through politics'?

So far, the only thing I've seen Republican politicians DO is hand the money budgeted for this war over to their buddies at Halliburton, fail to ensure that the troops have sufficient body armour, vehicle armour, and clean drinking water. They have cut veterans' pensions and medical coverage, have breached their contracts with military personnel via a back-door draft, and ignored the military advisors who have a lot more experience in this area than the average politician has.

If this war could be fought and/or won by way of 'politics', there wouldn't be any need for a single soldier to be in Iraq in the first place. They could have all stayed home and 'politicized' an astounding victory years ago.

I'm too rich, well-connected, and chickenshit to serve my country in the Middle East because I'd rather use politics to steal from the American people. Besides, I can't throw my weight around in the Army.

24. We need cannon fodder more than we need a few more
politicians.
Besides, 25 years from now when you are running for office, you will need to answer this question.
Don't do something now that you will learn to regret. You will need to separate yourself from the run of the mill politician to get the press and campaign dollars. Don't you want to be invited as a regular on Faux News? Volunteer, chickenhawk!

That being paid to be stateside is NOT the equivalent, moral or otherwise, of actually, you know, SERVING.
There's a reason the Armed Forces are also the Armed SERVICES and the enlisted are SERVICE-MEN and -WOMEN.

Once again,Republican senators have shown how they "support" our Veterans. On March 14,2006,an amendment was introduced in the Senate to increase veteran spending by $1.5 billion through the closing of corporate tax break loopholes(senate amendment no. 3007).There would have been no increase in our taxes whatsoever. One Republican voted for this amendment. The "War on Terror" has created 16,000+ Veterans who will need medical attention for many years,in addition to the Veterans who are already on the books. My son will be one of those newly injured Veterans, and this country made a promise to him and his comrades-"we will support you if you put your life on the line for us".Once again,Republicans have shown how they"support our troops".These are the hypocrites who proudly place a yellow ribbon on their SUV,while never having served our country themselves, nor allowing their sons and daughters to be pawns in this war on terror.Do you support these cowards? Then you are as guilty as they are of spitting on our Veterans.
