Subject: Picture this: Pictures for the rallies and marches. Show the suffering:
Message:
One of the things that turned the tide in the wa in Nam was the horrible picture of the little naked napalmed girl running for her life in absolute terror. We need to again put images of the real suffering that this war is causing out there. Several people have suggested doing this for the rallies and marches tomorrow, so I am starting this thread for people to post pictures that can be printed and carried. You can post pictures of anyone killed or injured in this war from any country involved. Thanks.

Here are a few to start:

The children:

The Dhar Jamail gallery of images:

Please add others, especially those of children and print some up for use tomorrow.

Americans can care a lot if they know. Help them know.

Thanks :grouphug:

2. Don't forget the coffins

http://www.thememoryhole.org/war/coffin_photos/dover/

We met as soul mates
On Parris Island
We left as inmates
From an asylum
And we were sharp
As sharp as knives
And we were so gung ho
To lay down our lives

We came in spastic
Like tameless horses
We left in plastic
As numbered corpses
And we learned fast
To travel light
Our arms were heavy
But our bellies were tight

We had no home front
We had no soft soap
They sent us Playboy
They gave us Bob Hope
We dug in deep
And shot on sight
And prayed to Jesus Christ
With all of our might

We had no cameras
To shoot the landscape
We passed the hash pipe
And played our Doors tapes
And it was dark
So dark at night
And we held on to each other
Like brother to brother
We promised our mothers we'd write
And we would all go down together
We said we'd all go down together
Yes we would all go down together

Remember Charlie
Remember Baker
They left their childhood
On every acre
And who was wrong?
And who was right?
It didn't matter in the thick of the fight

We held the day
In the palm
Of our hand
They ruled the night
And the night
Seemed to last as long as six weeks
On Parris Island

We held the coastline
They held the highlands
And they were sharp
As sharp as knives
They heard the hum of our motors
They counted the rotors
And waited for us to arrive
And we would all go down together
We said we'd all go down together
Yes we would all go down together

Billy Joel - Goodbye Saigon

Where are the protest songs about Iraq? The above song is 38 years old, it is about the present!

7. Excellent. If the press/media won't bring the truth to the people
Then bring the truth to the rallies and protests.

"This is what war looks like" on the bottom of a picture

other:
"This is a war crime"
"This is Bush's war"
"Spreading democracy?"
"Spreading death"
"He/She died for Bush's lies"
"How many more?"
"Victim of Bush's Blood for Oil Program"
"Halliburton calls this profit"

What about her future?

Halliburton calls this profit

Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 02:25 PM by Judi Lynn
I just found the link, looking for photos of "Iraq war" in google. It's doubtful many people have seen these. I could not really look at them, to tell you the truth, I raced by them. There may be one which would have an impact without traumatizing children.

http://www.awitness.org/journal/real_iraq_war.html

On edit:

This would be one which could be used. Very sad....

13. There's one near the bottom of this link which you may remember
It was released not too long after Bush had Baghdad bombed. (Isn't it a shame to put power in the hands of someone with so little respect for his fellow man?)

http://www.krysstal.com/democracy_iraq_war04.html

It would be very clearly a negative statement about Bush's war.

14. Thanks for your links. There are some very graphic pictures in them.
We need to see what is being done in are name. As hard as these are to look at, it is nothing to compare with the horror of the people who are living it.

tomorrow. I have downloaded all of the pictures that I will ce using and printed them. I foung a large box and cut it to form a cross and used a piece of garden bamboo for a pole. All I have to do now is tape on the pictures. I decided to just use pictures of the childres who have been injured or killed, six pictures on each side. It is pretty powerful. I hope that I can ger someone with a digital camera to take a picture.

I feel like we citizens are failing miserably to uphold our end of the bargain. We seem to be sleepwalking into the fascist state and allowing grand scale murder to occur in our names with only the occasional voice/gathering of dissent.

Peace be with you.
