The Medicare Drug Program Is Not For Me.
The only drug I take on the Medicare list is for blood pressure and I get that in across the border in Mexico. I have been diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurysm which is inoperable and there is no cure. I was given no medication and told to watch my blood pressure. Like the surgeon said - "Go home and enjoy the rest of your life".

I have no need for a Medicare Drug Program Anyone else feel this way? BTW will be 83 next month!!!

2. I'm not there yet
but I don't know anyone, not a single person who likes it or will save any money.

Happy Birthday and many, many more!

3. If you don't sign up by the deadline, they'll sign you up
with percentage penalties. Absolutely infuriating isn't it?

6. Is it really true that they'll sign you up?
I thought they will just let you go along without it until you need/want to sign up and then hit you with the 1% per month lateness penalty.

Question
Do I have to join a Medicare drug plan?

Answer
No. Joining a Medicare drug plan is your choice. However, if you don’t join a plan by May 15, 2006, and you don’t currently have a drug plan that, on average, covers at least as much as standard Medicare prescription drug coverage, you will have to wait until November 15, 2006 to join. When you do join, your premium cost will go up at least 1% per month for every month that you wait to join. Like other insurance, you will have to pay this penalty as long as you have Medicare prescription drug coverage

Maybe I was thinking of the people that had the combo plans.

9. They can sign me up...
but they can't make me use it. I'm approaching my mid-seventies. I don't take kindly to being told what to do by inept, crooked beaurocrats.

4. Not for me either.
Explained to my daughter that I want nothing to do with anything *designed* by this band of thieves. My doctor wants me to take blood pessure medication. I checked out the side affects and am not inclined to follow his advice at this point.

I've been supporting SB840 here in California which would be a single payer plan covering everything for everyone at reasonable rates. As presented, it's simpler and more honest, therefore an effective and much less expensive approach to the problem.
