Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 07:28 PM by Jara sang
http://foia.fbi.gov/foia_instruc.pdf

This is a Freedom of Information Act request. Under provisions of the Freedom of Information Act this requests all Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation files concerning the website www.democraticunderground.com from January 20, 2001 to March 15, 2006. As I am a contributor to this website forum, this is to be considered a personal request and as such, any applicable fees should be waived.

I'll let y'all know what happens. Now to fire one off to CIA and NSA. Woohoo!

Edited to add dates.

6. Why the sarcasm? We aren't hiding anything here.
I'm not the only one:

Groups want to know if FBI, police spied on them

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The New York Civil Liberties Union filed Freedom of Information requests Tuesday on behalf of itself and 13 political and religious groups to determine whether the FBI and local law enforcement agencies have been spying on them.

Requests were filed by NYCLU chapters in Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and New York City, said Barrie Gewanter, director of the group's Central New York chapter. Anti-war activist Leslie Cagan of United for Peace and Justice, an umbrella organization for more than 1,300 national and local anti-war groups, also joined in the requests.

7. I did not mean it to be sarcasm - if I did I would have used the sarcasm
icon, I'm sorry if you think it was sarcasm but up until my post you had zero nominations.

8. Right on. My bad.

I've heard criticism of requesting documents form the government before. The one being that "If you request your 'FBI file' if the the FBI doesn't have one on you then your request mandates that they start one on you." I'm sure it's a urban myth.
