Too much New Years Eve or just mere coincidence? Me thinks alcohol is involved.

He's visiting wounded soldiers - men and women blinded, maimed, etc. while fighting in Iraq - and the baby wants to talk about his scratch. I cannot believe he had the nerve to call it "combat" with a tree on his property while brush-clearing. Why doesn't he just kick the wounded while he's there?

...caused by Bush's carelessness. An earlier poster remarked that Bush wouldn't be allowed on a work site -- and my officemate, who used to give safety courses for national parks staff, told me that anyone fooling around like that would be off her crew! Ridiculous that trained professionals would have to do this, when the situation could simply be avoided by making him follow basic rules.

"Out here, Secret Service agents trained to take the bullet for the president ensure falling trees do not strike him. Some watch the perimeter around Bush, while those closest to him guide cedar away from his head."

28. hate to be a wet blanket, but
his frequent 'accidents' make me wonder if subconsiously he is punishing himself- There is some 'good' in the worst of us- and deep down, he knows, i sincerly believe that he has done an awful lot to be sorry for- but lacks the ability to humble himself publicly or maybe even consciously and admit what he has done- and continue to live in this world.

He's caught in his own life-lies-lost- eternal hell.

And, while i cannot excuse what he's done- i pity him.

32. I completely agree that
he's done wrong, and should be held accountable.

But i DO pity him- and am not ashamed to admit that. If compassion or pity is the 'downfall' of the liberal/progressive movement, then let us ALL fall- Let the human race fall under its own selfish 'self' centered, hate and revenge driven race into extinction.

We like to 'demonize' and 'dehumanize' those who do things that fill us with rage, dismay, disgust, and the frustrating reality that 'we' can't 'control' others, and sometimes not even ourselves.

Some of the worst of bush, is inside of you- AMD me- and everyone who lives- some of the best is too. What we choose to nurture, or give 'free-reign' to is what drives us to become people who do their best to build up, or those who do their best to destroy- I'll live as long as i can see the hope of 'building up' community, connectedness, and the mutual good of this world, as what drives me the majority of the time- When and if the day comes, when i believe 'they' are alien to me- that somehow, another human is 'beneath' me- then i'll opt out of this life. Because then i cease to be human- or of any value to this world.

It is a promise i've made to myself, that i will keep. No matter what- we all f...k up- and we all do some good... i could be a powerful instrument of harm- or good- as we all can. But if i cease to see my potential to 'be' what i most detest, then its time for me to stop be- ing.

35. I'm not into revenge either
its one of the worst of human qualities.

I do believe that there are times when we must hold fast and strong to the objective view of what people have done, and hold them accountable, and to give in to pity where it will not lead to productive, or deserving actions is a big mistake.

some culpable people do deserve pity. bush does not by virtue of his outrageous and criminal abuse of the authority of his office.

86. you have the potential
within you to do exactly as he has done- to deny that is to lie to yourself.
That you, and most of us here CHOOSE not to do what he has done, is something I'm happy to be in agreement with you on. But if you think, like many human beings do- Like bush himself claims, that "they"- ( are animals, or monsters, or sub/inhuman) that you are POTENTIALLY any different than bush- or bin ladin, tim mc veigh or any other human that has ever lived, is to deny your humanity- and the only person you are fooling is yourself.

I am speaking for myself- as you are. I am also speaking the truth as i KNOW it to be- as uncomfortable as that may make us all feel. Truth isn't always comfortable. But it is always necessiary for positive change, and breaking out of negative and deadly patterns.

If you refuse to see the ways in which all humans are connected, and deny any negative qualities in yourself or those you choose to call 'friend'- you perpetuate the hell this world has become.

And i don't say this as if i'm perfect, or like 'i've arrived' at some special place- i'm saying this because i'm constantly reminded that we are all as Jewel would say "Peices of you".= for good or ill.

peace,
blu

73. I posted a long reply to
the one just above yours- saying that while I completely agree that bush DID and IS doing things that are flat out wrong- and that he cannot excuse his actions- for us to dance on his grave, or rejoice in his eventual punishment (and i sincerly believe he WILL suffer for what he had done, even if we don't see it ourselves) but it was as this link was moved, and it got caught in the crossfire, and lost forever i guess.

Even a sociopath has 'compassion' built into them. It may be beneath the consiousness, or buried beneath years of repeated silencing, but it is there- I don't think bush is hurting himself intentionally- but i DO believe that being accident prone, or continually finding oneself in situations that are self harming and unhealthy can be a subconscious way of self punishment- on a level that is NOT under the conscious control of the person.

He is indeed, a man who has done grievious harm to many, many people. One of my worst nightmares would be waking up to find out I was him- (and i have some pretty nasty nightmares).
I pity the waste of his life, and the evil that he has done, and been allowed to do. Complicit in this are many many people who COULD have stopped him, and didn't. People who refused to acknowledge that violence in response to violence is a never ending downward spiral. People who continued to support, and follow his orders, rather than face the ugly truth, or with the courage to stand firm and say "NO- I will NOT do this". No matter the cost- Lost jobs? lost reputation? lost money? lost life- what is life worth if it is a life of compromise and deciet??
People are responsible for their actions. But, as Gandhi and MLKjr said, if i allow myself to hate him, or to wish the same kind of evil on him- then i have lost everything that was 'worth fighting for'-

Allowing others to cause us to RE-ACT in kind, is giving up our control to them- and being used as an extention of evil. (sorry, i haven't got a better/less ...religious... kind of word for it)

48. It's amazing how the press ignores shit like this. The man is a drunk.
Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 05:36 PM by Marr
Seriously- the *only* people I've ever known to get wounds on their faces, let alone regularly, were fall-down drunks. I've been mountain biking for years and fallen in every pit from Mexico to Colorado, and I've never injured my face. I've eaten lots of pretzels and never "choked" on one. Give me a break- that guy is on the sauce, big time.

Can you imagine how Clinton would've been picked apart if he'd come out with a new facial wound every few months?

That one close up shot is scary. Look at the puffiness and the eyes.

50. Heavy drinking!
Unfortunately, I can speak from personal experiences with alcoholics. The gash is probable but inconclusive, though there have been many unexplained gashes and bruises in the past. But what strikes me from the photo is the bloodshot eyes, the red nose, and the broken capillaries in the face. The forced smile seems telling, too.

"...in the old forehead..." has such a benevolent, avuncular tone about it. And on top of the incredulity. As if he were a kid or a very simple-minded drinking companion!

78. Bush facial incident No. 47
or whqatever. I accurately predicted another facial incident on a Dec. 31 DU thread asking what was ahead for the new year. But then, that prediction was a no brainer.

I will also predict that the press will continue to ignore all of these queer presidential facials. As usual.

Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 09:06 PM by Cleita
He really seems to have about two of them a month, doesn't he? Maybe the SS needs to be right next to him, ready to catch him before he keels over. Those seem to be obvious stumbling into furniture, walls and shrubbery kind of bruises and scratches.

87. Well, maybe a little poetic license on my part, Cleita
But what with pretzels, and bike headers, and all the other peculiar unexplained facials, I would say there have been more than a dozen facial scars on Bush since he got selected by the Supremes in 2000.

The so-called press fails to see a pattern here.

So I guess we should all move along and ignore the obvious, like good little proles.

He's cut himself off from the outside world. He is a controlled substance. Even his Poppy can't reach him. Does that sound as if he uses his head?
