Clerics have rally calling for discrimination, or execution, of Americans.

You think I'm kidding, don't you?

Radical clerics to have rally calling for discrimination, or execution, of Americans

Disgusted with the liberties that Americans enjoy, radical clerics are organizing a rally in support of businesses that discriminate against people who do not obey the laws of their deity; according to a two-page advertisement in the Asheville Citizen-Times yesterday.

"Those who choose to live a deviant life style do not have the right to flaunt their sin in the face of a business, church, or the community and expect to be accepted," said the advertisement, which was paid for by the IBOM, a fundamentalist organization that maintains training schools in the Middle East.

According to page one of the ad, the sacred texts from an omnipotent cloud-being named "God" specifically condemns Americans who break their promises, disobey their parents or develop weapons of mass destruction. Individuals who engage in such activities are to be put to death, and not tolerated by the rest of society.

<snip>

The rally, which is planned for this Saturday in downtown Asheville, NC has been meet with some nervousness by Christians and secularists.

"It's sad that they hate us for our freedoms," said one Ashevillian who wished to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals from the clerics, "I only hope that the Patriot Act will enable the government to prevent terrorist attacks from groups like this."

ON EDIT: You should know that the organization that is putting this together has ties to Charles Taylor (R) campaign. I suspect that the rally is actualy part of a broader strategy to create a hot-button issue for Taylor's lack-luster campaign.

1. Without oppression of the Liberal Media?
Where did they run this ad?
Looks like it was in a newspaper
Newspaper = Media = "librul" media.

4. Asheville Citizen-Times.
I called the paper, it costs $6,300 to have a two-page ad like this.

You'd think they would spend the money on feeding people rather than a hate rally.

2. May I point out to the clerics that
1) The media is not liberal, and
2) Sodomites include some married heterosexual couples.

I wonder if they know each other?

10. You wrote the ad?
Surely you can understand my confusion. These days, there's little difference between The New York Times and The Onion.

13. I know. When I was done
When I was done, I took a step back and thought to myself: "My God, this is so freaking bizarre."

All the facts check out. I have a hard-copy of the the paper in my possession, and this is for real.

The cons are going to have an anti-rights rally. There is no other way to say it.

15. In that case,
what is interference in the workplace from a sodomite?

I already closed the window to your website, so I don't remember the exact wording. What was that supposed to mean?

You ought to save that hard copy. Someday, it may be worth money as a historical record of the current lunacy. I'm serious.

What religion were these people? (I didn't notice.)

18. Kind of vague.
Catholics, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Methodists are Christians. I was just wondering if this group was from some little home-grown church. (Like Phelps)

19. I wrote it vague on purpose.
The point of the article is that the same language that we use to condemn fundamentalists in the Middle East, can be use to describe Christian fundies.

11. Since marriages existed prior to Xianity
Why is this sanctity of marriage (between one man and one women) shit allowed? Are these radicals going to start killing anthropologists for making study of polyandrous and polygynous cultures outside of the Bible Belt?

I did laugh at the 'omnipotent cloud-being named "God"' line...

12. well Dr. Runion
why don't you and Dr. Phelps get together and go on a long brokeback fishing trip and work your issues out together. First stop, London, England, where you can diddle for eels in the Thames. Those crazy island people, the funny names they have for everything. Fish and chips. Spotted dick. Why England? No reason. I'll even pay for first class, one way tickets for both of you, seated together of course.

England has a long standing policy of welcoming clerics who incite violence with open arms. You'll have lots of free attention, great accommodations, three meals a day, and even be able to go to the rodeo as often as you (or he) want with your fellow cell-ma, uh, guests.

Pity we don't do that here in America. Say hi to old one-eye while you're there.

didn't bush promise to bring the nation together?
didn't he disobey his father by invading Iraq and ousting Saddam?
hasn't he continued to build nuclear weapons and other WMD?

hmmmmmmm ... put to death and not tolerated by the rest of society ... interesting ...
