Well now we have Bartlett accusing the President of being an impostor and not a true conservative. We have many others breaking distance records, and the GOP is loosing or has lost its mojo. Now what else could go wrong to get most Americans to condemn Neo Cons to the dust bin of history? (I mean Fukuyama said as much, and he was one of the movement founders for god sakes)?
Well, there are clouds gathering in the distance... the kinds of clouds that gathered during the lazy summer of 1929. They were not as noticeable back then most folks and I am sure it will not be to most folks today. But lets summarize the upcoming storm.
1.- Housing bubble seems to be flattening out... could be the 20 year cycle, or could be something else, time will tell
2.- Our trade deficit is at historic heights
3.- The National Debts is at historic heights
4.- Who owns that debt should worry people and they are starting to make noise
So is a crash possible? yes, what will that do to the GOP? Well if history is a teacher... the GOP is in for a drought of offices, and if history is a real teacher, 1800 was the height of power for the Whigs... ask any body where they are now... that might be in the cards.
Of course this assumes clean elections, of which many of us are no longer convinced exist in this country. What we need is simple paper ballots, counted by hand and yes... international observers.
