If Rumsfeld & Bush intend to let the Iraqis handle their own civil war
then what is our stated purpose for still being in the country?

Last I heard, we were either going to stay until there was no more violence, or stay until the Iraqis could handle the violence on their own, depending on which part of the same * speech you listen to.

And now Dr. Strangelove says we're going to let the Iraqis handle their own civil war.

Why are US military forces still there? What is their stated purpose? It seems to me that you could drive a truck through this gap in logic.
