Former President George Bush, Barbara and Jeb to promote literacy
Former President George Bush, Barbara Bush and Gov. Jeb Bush will be in Naples this week to promote literacy.

The Bush family will be in town Friday afternoon at the Naples Grande Resort & Club, 475 Seagate Drive, for the sixth-annual Celebration of Reading. The program benefits the Governor's Family Literacy Initiative of Florida.

The event will feature readings by the Bushes and by best-selling authors, including Michael Crichton (State of Fear, Jurassic Park, Disclosure), Jill Conner Browne (The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love), and Julianna Baggott (Girl Talk, The Anybodies).

The program is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. to 7:40 p.m.

And here is the Naples GRANDE Resort and Club, just that perfect venue to reach out to the downtrodden and illiterate of Florida:

2. LMAO!!! Okay... so you know how at first glance
you can misread a word?
Well, I swear when I first read this I saw the word "illiteracy".
After all... that would make more sense.

3. Well, with the three of them, that should cover about 10 minutes.
Then what?

5. Getting people to read is easy.
It's getting people to question what they read that's the tricky part.

7. I note that daughter, Jenna, who wanted to teach in Harlem but couldn't,
is AWOL for this event. You'd think she'd have something to say as she majored in education at the University of Texas.

8. Think they could sober her up long enough to speak
at the event? Or is Barbara the drunkard following in daddy's footsteps?

And the irony of holding a literacy promotion at a ritzy resort few working class people could afford sounds like the work of Babs "let them eat cake" Bush. Somebody should put the old cow out to pasture, her "beautiful mind" is getting senile.

11. Probably involved in more dirty dancing in Georgetown.

You know, I googled "president's daughter" looking for a link to that published rumor that a famous politico's daughter gave an interview to a sports webpage where she trashed daddy dearest for seldom showing up for her activities while she was growing up. And up popped a little reference in a 2005 gossip column that Jenna had left the crowd speechless at a bachelor party in some DC hotspot when she was down on all fours on the floor, waving her thong-clad butt at the crowd.

On reflection, she was simply acting out the Bush family's attitude toward the rest of the world, i.e., kiss my ass.

9. W/ faux scientist Michael Crichton, who doesn't believe in global warming.
He makes his fortune spinning unbelievable science fiction/horror stories about dinosaurs, but challenges National Academy of Science, Nobel laureates, etc. that they are wrong about global warming. He's the neocon's pet "scientist".

10. It would be a great idea except for the goofy loons promoting it
These rich elite have some education, but their hearts always seem in the wrong place. Any benevolent action raises questions in my mind. There has to be a secret agenda, like helping jebbie rip off Florida some how and make him appear genteel.
I would rather they just go away!
:argh:
