The House Republicans must vote against the ports deal to save their hides
in the upcoming election. The Senate does not. Once the elections are over, this deal and the continued outsourcing of American jobs will go on as usual. I only hope (not much hope though) that the voters are smarter than this.

1. UAE might help in this matter
if they follow through on their threats to do something if the deal doesn't go through in 45 days.

2. Is this a case of voting for the ports before voting against them?

3. This is a generalization, BUT...
I says to my wife last night that the Repubs are doing this NOT because they care about our national security, but simply because the outcry is SO SEVERE that if they DID allow the ports deal to go thru, their asses would be kicked straight outta DC after the 2006 Congressional elections. Self-preservation at work!

4. That's right... all of them have to run for re-election...
But only one-third of the Senate have to run, and some of them are Democrats.

5. Seems to be the consensus
My hairdresser said the same thing last night - they are only trying to save their own asses.

6. I pity the Democrats.
It's getting harder and harder for them to blow the 2006 elections. I think they're going to end up having to rely on voting fraud to lose the day for them.

7. You mean the Rubber Stamp Republicans
who have had party-line votes for damn near everything else that Bush shoved down America's throat . . .
