Poll question: Poll: Will Congress stop the coming war with Iran?
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 11:42 AM by Ian_rd
Here we go again ... the PR campaign to build public support for war.

Cheney: Iran faces ‘meaningful consequences’
Vice president warns Tehran of pursuing uranium-enriching ambitions

WASHINGTON - Iran will not be allowed to have nuclear weapons and faces “meaningful consequences” if it persists in defying the international community, Vice President Dick Cheney said Tuesday.

“The Iranian regime needs to know that if it stays on its present course the international community is prepared to impose meaningful consequences,” Cheney said in a speech to the pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC.

1. Nope. This is the idiot's "war on terror" and he will
get his war on no matter what. This is the PNAC agenda playing out before our very eyes.

4. Once again we are powerless to stop it
Millions vehemently oppose
but we have no voice!
Watch Bush reign in the power after the invasion.

8. Actually, we're not powerless.
> Once again we are powerless to stop it

Actually, we're not powerless. But it would
take hundreds of thousands of Americans actually
being willing to put their lives on the line,
to be willing to die for what they know is right.
And so far, we remain way too comfortable for
any of that shit.

12. You're right.
All a fascist regime needs is the physical complacency of the population. We consent by our unwillingness to physically stop the insanity...

2. Congress will approve
A few Democrats will oppose, but lieberman will
work them over using his special brand of lo-blo-mentum.
That will leave Kenedy, Kucinich, Feingold, Conyers and a handful of others opposing. Slam dunk for Bush.

Hillary will vote yes.

7. The chimp is going to bomb Iraq with nukes.
I doubt there is anything that will stop him.

It's all downhill from there.

Stock up on canned goods and bottled water.

9. The Bush Admin. will not be allowed to invade Iran, no.
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 11:55 AM by Marr
I don't say that out of some faith in our sell-out Congressional leaders. Far from it.

The Bush Administration will not be allowed to invade Iran because we do not have the troops to do it, period. You can't have a war if you've got no one to send. I expect they'll push this Iran threat story as far as they can, get people just as scared as they possibly can, and then make a few airstrikes on Iran ahead of the 2006 elections.

14. But I think that it is a mistake to think that Iran will allow itself to b
bombed and not retaliate. It is the retaliation that will bring everything down, and down hard...

15. They'll break out the flags and "smart" bomb videos.
Throw in some cami-clad generals, a few choruses of "God Bless America, talk about "supporting the troops" and voila - another popular war...until the American body count goes up and the bills come due.

Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 01:00 PM by wuushew
Somehow unexplainably one of our aircraft will be shot down over Iran and the Congress will gleefully give their rubber stamp.

Among Democrats voting to support Bush will be John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and Joe Lieberman( I will bet money on this so bookmark this post for the next fund drive).
