What's the difference between Zacarias Moussaoui and Condoleezza Rice?
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 07:41 AM by BuyingThyme
A TERRORIST conspirator who studied in London must be executed for causing the deaths of nearly 3,000 people by failing to tell what he knew of the 11 September attacks, prosecutors in the United States argued yesterday.

Condoleezza Rice also failed to share what she knew with the FBI. Should she be held to the same standard?

1. Well because this policy would end up with us executing dozens of people
And there would probably be a downside to doing that.

2. I wonder why defendant pled guilty without getting the death
penalty out? There's no motive to plead guilty if the death penalty is still an option. You may as well make the government prove its allegations.

11. There's no problem with the death penalty if you want to be a martyr.
What better deal than to have "The Great Satan(tm)" kill you
for upholding your beliefs? You probably get 144 virgins instead
of the usual 72.

8. The point you make is similar to one raised by Leo Tolstoy
in an essay he wrote in 1900 entitled "Thou Shalt Not Kill."

He concludes, "So the Alexanders, Carnots, Humberts, and others should not be murdered; but it should be explained to them that they are themselves murders, and above all they should not be allowed to kill people: men should refuse to murder at their command."*

His essay was prevented from being printed in Russia by the tsar. It was printed in the Russian language in Germany in 1903; but the edition was deemed offensive to the Kaiser and all copies were ordered destroyed.

Plus ca change ... .
