I have a strategy for the dems - it is called courage & common sense

I am sick to death of the democratics wondering whatever to do about the fact that they keep losing elections. It isn't complicated.

1. Put the people and policy above your own ambitions. Period. Vote to do the right thing. Not about what is 'politically popular'. What is politically popular one minute may become politically toxic the next. For example, I remember PLEADING with Senator Kerry in a letter before the vote to give Bush unfettered power to launch a war. I pointed out that this President was NOT trust worthy, and ultimately voting no would show his character & true leadership come Presidential election time. He choose to go with the politically safe option. It was a disastrous choice. And, it was a wrong and unethical choice. Always do the right thing.

2. Call a spade a spade. A lie a lie. When a Republican lies, roar back with the truth. When the media lies, roar back with the truth.

3. Don't make a deal with the devil. Republicans have no honor and are not trustworthy. Do not betray the people with a compromise vote for a promise of future reward. The reward will not come. And, you will be screwed twice.

4. The Republicans are FIXING elections. It is not a conspiracy. It is a fact. Time for a national education campaign. It is unfair to request the people's time and money for your election campaign, if you won't work to ensure that the results aren't fixed. Two stolen Presidential elections haven't woken you up. Watch out in 2006.

5. Be honest. Right away. The majority of American's do NOT care if you had an affair or you cheated on your taxes twenty five years ago. We all have skeletons. If you have something that is a skeleton, tell the public yourself. Express regret. Express lessoned learned. People can relate to mistakes and most people admire a little humility and honesty. Take away the Republicans ammunition. And, if the Republicans want to crucify you with it - you can simply point out that you have acknowleded the mistake, have shown honesty, and have moved on. They should take a lesson from you.

Any others?

1. Do you really think the Republicans have the ability
to fix elections with absolutely no backlash or scrutiny without Democrats complicity? Once you realize that, you see the irony of your letter, since your would-be receipients are just as bad the fucks you are chiding them to differentiate themselves from. In fact, I'm not entirely convinced they aren't all one and the same

The supreme Court nominations are a testimony the the difference between the parties. However, I do wonder as to how " bought off" our leadership has become. One vote , one time , sets you up for a lifetime of wealth, very tempting! May I warn you though, do not become cynical and not vote, as this is the only means to rid ourselves of these shills. and welcome to D/U:toast:

3. Forgive me but your question is kind of silly
They have already fixed elections with almost no backlash from anyone. It was easy and they WILL do it again.

4. My question was how can you think there isn't Democratic complicity
in those fixes?

I think its silly to think otherwise really

And as for the SCOTUS hearings, from a results perspective it was all for show, wasn't it? So the fact that they can put on an empty, meaning show is their distinguishing characteristic?

The Democrats are just as much coporate whores as the Repubs, even if they do have opposing views on social issues...big fucking deal

6. "Follow the money" is always the answer to these questions;
I do feel that you are too cynical and over generalizing. Don't put on a tinfoil hat and give in to grand complicity theories. If you want a change , the answer is at the grassroots. Was there complicity, or were the Dem's just over powered, or is it that no one cares? Until the the people at the voting level make it known that they will no long tolerate this, nothing will happen.

5. When the Ameircan Public stop watching teveee
and actually take to the streets after a fixed election we shall talk. So far, they have not.

Oh and perchance you might want to exlain to me why this is not a hot button issue at the DNC... and the explanation we don't wnat to sound crazy does not hold water

Then again watching some recent votes by the Senate (UP Patrioot Act, Alito), there is more they have in common than many want to admit... by the way, enjoy the very long night, for the dusk is setting, and it is not a nice night.
