Is there a resource that tells about non-fatal casualties
who are unable to return to duty? Do they classify injuries? (eg lost limbs, lost senses (sight, etc), braindamaged, sever burns)

1. The living wounded always get under reported or cared very little about
I'm sure it's in the tens of thousands but not sure where to look.

3. This casualty site has some data
http://icasualties.org/oif /

Scroll down to the "wounded" table. One column is:

"Wnd-RTD: Wounded in Action Return to Duty within 72 hours"

the other:

"Wnd: Wounded in Action Not Return to Duty within 72 hours"

There's also a link there to various articles, by date, that report injuries.
