Perhaps they are too conscious about it? If they can just get the Democrats to vote against some security issue before the November election, then they can portray them as weak on national security and not capable of defending this country? If they can just get them to vote against the Iraq appropriations or the Patriot Bill or anything where they can be accused of being too weak to defend this country, then they will have a shot at winning in November and maintaining their superior numbers in the House and Senate. Is this why the Democrats are votng for these pieces of crap legislation?

1. If the Democrats can't make any hay out of the fact that Repubs have
totally RUINED THIS COUNTRY with their one party rule over the last handful of years, they are beyond worthless as a party.

Seriously.

If any Dem politician spends more time worrying about what box Rove will paint them into with some vote, rather than taking THIS FIGHT to the Repubs, in the sorry position the Repubs are in, why are they even in politics unless the thing really IS a charade and the Democratic Party is in fact just a front to make the appearance of Democracy plausible, the "Washington Generals" to the "Harlem Globetrotters" of the Republican Party.

3. This is the problem
>>If any Dem politician spends more time worrying about what box Rove will paint them into.

One thing about shrub and his minions, they stand by their convictions, no matter how fucked up their convictions are. They are fiercely loyal to the extreme factions of the base, while the dems try to distance themselves from the dissenters at every opportunity. Look at Ann Coulter for example, this woman says the most vile things for a living and do the Repubs try to distance themselves from her? not really, Certain Dems however will distance themselves from their base constantly, Jack Murtha, Michael Moore, etc. Why do they do this?
