A caller just confronted Susan about how unbalanced Washington Journal is and how it's been a long time since Al Franken appeared on the program. I'm a regular WJ watcher (for reasons I can't explain) and I can't recall seeing him since the debut of AAR over a year ago. Later Susan claimed he'd been on 47 times...which counted ALL C-SPAN programming, including that infamous run-in with O'Reilly.
He also questioned her about the F.A.I.R. (
http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=2780) Action alert about the Washington Journal's right wing bias. Susan (who once worked for the RNC) claimed there was no such bias and that they monitor who they bring on the show carefully...and how they get comments from all sides (the old "thus we must be doing it right" defense). At least she admitted she was aware of the F.A.I.R. report but then dismissed it.
I can't remember the last time I saw a Joe Connason or Molly Ivins or John Conyers on the program, but the other morning, there was Newtie Gingrich spewing his spin followed by the usual cadre of AEI and Heritage Institute morons.
Kudos to the caller...kudos to F.A.I.R. and here's hoping they keep up the pressure.
