SD and MS Abortion Rulings vs. Ceaucescu's Romania
In 1966, the Communist dictator of Romania, Nicolae Ceaucescu, outlawed all abortions with few exceptions. "The fetus is the property of the entire society," Ceausescu proclaimed. "Anyone who avoids having children is a deserter who abandons the laws of national continuity." The exceptions were: if a woman was over 40, if she already had four children, if her life was in danger - or, in practice, if she had Communist Party connections. Otherwise, illegal abortions cost from two to four months' wages. This is from http://www.ceausescu.org/ceausescu_texts/overplanned_parenthood.htm, which documents even more scary things that the Romanian dictatorship did to force women to be breeders.

Compare this with the rulings outlawing abortion in South Dakota and Mississippi. Communist Romania was actually more lenient than the current rulings!

Someone needs to get this out to the pro-choice groups!

1. And in Ceaucescu's Romania, there were warehouses full of children
who got poor care. Sounds like where we are heading in this country.

and the mother tossed aside.

2. The fetus is the property of all society ?
Oh, well that's nice. Let them pay for the child.

Over 500,000 American women die in childbirth annually, according to Paul Harvey. How do the radicals plan on the lawsuits of a government forcing it's will on a woman and causing her death?

The woman must bear the child of her rapist? The GOP certainly don't care much for women. American Taliban.

6. Paul Harvey
On the radio yesterday. It does not sound overly high. One of the worst countries in the deaths of women during delivery is Afghanistan with over a 14% rate.

How many babies are born here compared with Afghanistan?

Women here do die of childbirth. The birthing process is not like removing a sliver from a finger.

8. paul harvey made it up on the spot or you misheard
Edited on Fri Mar-03-06 12:22 AM by pitohui
in 2000 the united nations said usa had around 17 women dying in childbirth per 100,000 live births

as far as lawsuits, gov'ts don't have to consent to be sued and the states where abortion is illegal will simply refuse to hear lawsuits brought by women harmed by forced pregnancies, the threat of lawsuit against the gov't is a pitiful tool because it is usually not available in the real world

we need to fight w. real knowledge and real information, not crap put out by folks who may have an agenda of making us look like idiots, i'm not saying harvey has an agenda, i have no idea if he does or not, but wild claims such as 500,000 dead women in childbirth in america...we'd notice that, actually

9. 500,000 women dead giving birth is not wild
in this country. Do the math according to your own figures. It adds up.

Strange as it may be, I trust Paul Harvey.

10. The math:
17 per 100,000 live births = 170 per 1,000,000 = 1700 per 10,000,000 = 17,000 per 100,000,000

So: if there were 100 million live births in the US last year, which is an absurdly high number, that's still only 17,000 childbirth deaths. I'm calling Paul Harvey either a liar or insane.

Isn't Paul Harvey DEAD, BTW????

5. Bucharest in the 70s would be better than MS today...
For many, the living standards were similar, but I'm sure there was a better health infrastructure in Romania...
