Batman to take on Al-Qaeda
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4717696.stm

The latest Batman adventure will see the Caped Crusader take on al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.

Comic book artist Frank Miller is midway through writing Holy Terror, Batman, which sees Batman defending Gotham City from a terrorist attack.

"It is, not to put too fine a point on it, a piece of propaganda," said Miller at a US comic book convention.

The veteran writer called it "a reminder to people who seem to have forgotten who we're up against".

He said the story was "an explosion from my gut reaction of what is happening now"....

I used to like Frank Miller's work - now he's putting out a bunch of uber-nationalist stuff? Not quite sure what to make of this.

1. I have spent years of my life pretending to be Batman
Probably too much info for you all.

I must go off to fight al-qaeda now.

Robin, to the Batmobile!

2. Not sure what to make of it? This says it all:
"It is, not to put too fine a point on it, a piece of propaganda," said Miller at a US comic book convention.

The veteran writer called it "a reminder to people who seem to have forgotten who we're up against".

Self-admitted propaganda. Pure and simple. A "need to remind" us of "who we're up against." Uh, Frank, I've known who we've been "up against" for some time (about 10:00 EST, 09/11/2001), and he ain't gonna be caught by "Batman."

Frank Miller is currently swimming in the deep end of the Kool-Aid Pool.

8. No, but I'm sure Mel Gibson would jump at this role
Mel Gibson as Batman, saving 'Murika from the turrahists.

11. Brainwashing America

Brainwashing America by Dr. Norman Livergood

SNIP

In an earlier article, I reviewed the varied aspects of personality profiling and simulation. While serving as Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department at the U.S. Army War College, 1993-1995, I conducted studies on profiling, psychological programming, and brainwashing. I explored and developed personality simulation systems, an advanced technology used in military war games, FBI profiling, political campaigning, and advertising. Part of my discovery was that:

* unenlightened human minds are combinations of infantile beliefs and emotional patterns

* these patterns can be simulated in profiling systems

* these profiling systems can be used to program and control people

Personality simulation systems are being used to create political campaigns that apply voter profiles to control their voting behavior. TV commercials and programs use personality simulation to profile viewers to control their purchasing and viewing behaviors. And sophisticated propaganda and brainwashing techniques are being used by the Bush junta to keep American citizens under control.

5. Sad, but not suprising
Most comic books have engaged in various forms of propaganda over the years and decades. Not an excuse, but not suprising. I'm rather suprised it took them this long quite frankly. Quite disappointing that Miller is doing this however, I rathered enjoyed his work years ago back when I was collecting.

Don't be suprised to see DC's competition at Marvel come out with their own propaganda piece. My bet is that they enlist Captain America for the job.

6. When will someone stand up to the real menace to America?
Sounds like a job for the Punisher, perhaps.
