Katherine Harris to be featured speaker at "Reclaiming America for Christ"

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fl., Mar. 1 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and U.S. Rep. Katharine Harris will be among 18 speakers at the Reclaiming America for Christ conference, March 17-18, 2006, in Fort Lauderdale. Huckabee is a Southern Baptist minister who has served as Arkansas governor since 1996. Rep. Harris is an evangelical Christian and a two-term U.S. Representative for Florida’s 13th congressional district.

The two-day conference, organized by the D. James Kennedy-founded Center for Reclaiming America for Christ, attracts evangelicals from across the nation who are eager to apply their faith to the public square.

"If Christians will decide that though they can't do everything, they can do something, and what they can do they will do, we can change this nation," said Dr. Kennedy. "We can change America for the good. We can make it a better, more moral, more spiritual nation than it has degenerated into in the last few decades.”

The conference schedule and other details are available at http://www.reclaimamerica.org/PAGES/CONFERENCES/RAC2006/.

There will be a conference media briefing on Friday, March 17, at 5:20 PM, featuring Dr. Kennedy, Dr. Gary Cass, and Gov. Huckabee (see details below).

Gov. Huckabee and Rep. Harris will be joined at Reclaiming America for Christ 2006 by a roster of frontline Christian leaders, including:

* Michael Farris, a homeschool leader and president of Patrick Henry College, recently ranked as one of America’s top ten conservative colleges;
* Dr. Marvin Olasky, editor of World, the nation’s fourth largest newsmagazine, and the intellectual force behind “compassionate conservatism”;
* Dr. Rick Scarborough, president of American Vision, which seeks to mobilize pastors to put biblical values back into every aspect of the public arena;
* William Federer, author, former congressional candidate and host of the daily radio feature American Minute;
* Dr. Peter Lillback, president of Westminster Theological Seminary and author of a definitive, forthcoming volume on the faith of George Washington.
* Jan LaRue, chief counsel of Concerned Women for America, the nation’s largest public policy women's organization
* David C. Gibbs III, a Christian Law Association attorney who represented the family of Terri Schiavo.

Other conference speakers include Bishop Dr. George McKinney, a Church of God in Christ pastor and author of The New Slavemasters; Rev. John Sorensen, Executive Vice President of Evangelism Explosion International; Alan Chambers, Executive Director of Exodus International; Ramon Arias, a broadcaster, activist, and co-founder of Cultural Legacy; Barbara Collier, National Field Director of the Center for Reclaiming America for Christ; Jim Sedlak, Executive Director of STOPP; and Chaplain (LTC) Kenneth L. In the house - while they were in session, not? Darned if I can remember the specifics, though.

Ah, here we go, Rep. Rick Renzi - scroll down about 1/2 way

As Rep. Rob Simmons talks about Iran's WMD program on the House floor, the C-SPAN camera captured Rep. Katherine Harris and Rep. Rick Renzi (both of whom are married) cuddling in the background.

23. At least Tammy Faye has a sense of humor about it
I actually like Tammy Faye. Her ex-husband was the slimeball. I don't think she really understood the fraud that Jim was committing through PTL.

But when I see Tammy Faye interviewed anywhere these days, she seems to have developed a sense of humility about the PTL days, and she is very supportive of her gay friends, something I'll bet she takes a lot of heat for from her fellow evangelicals.

28.  `Colorized' Photographs, Distorting Her Makeup'
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 12:25 PM by Hubert Flottz
snip

``I'm actually very sensitive about those things, and it's personally painful,'' Harris said when host Sean Hannity asked about her image problems from 2000.

``But they're outrageously false, No. 1, and No. 2, you know, whenever they made fun of my makeup, it was because the newspapers colorized my photograph,'' Harris said.

She didn't explain what she meant by ``colorized.''

I'm kind of sensitive about my vote being thrown in the trash, but that didn't seem to be a problem for The 'Swamp Thing' Harris...

16. See here is the thing
The actually think they can legislate their way to a moral nation.

They just don't get that were they to behave the way Jesus behaved, act as he acted, people would be drawn to authenticity of their faith and the morality they see as lack would emerge as a "fruit of the Spirit".
,
But, rather than clean-up their own house, rather then praying without ceasing, rather than humble evangelical effort, rather than feeding the hungry, or healing the sick, they strut around like the Pharisees and they pontificate about how bad things are and how we need More like them in the halls of political power to fix them.

I thank God daily that where there is no humility there is no power.

30. I smell Howard Ahmanson and his relatives...
...

In the early 1980s, brothers Bob and Todd Urosevich founded ES&S’s originator, Data Mark. The brothers Urosevich obtained financing from the far-Right Ahmanson family in 1984, which purchased a 68% ownership stake, according to the Omaha World Herald. After brothers William and Robert Ahmanson infused Data Mark with new capital, the name was changed to American Information Systems (AIS). California newspapers have long documented the Ahmanson family’s ties to right-wing evangelical Christian and Republican circles.

In 2001, the Los Angeles Times reported, “. . . primarily funded by evangelical Christians – particularly the wealthy Ahmanson family of Irvine – the institute’s $1-million annual program has produced 25 books, a stream of conferences and more than 100 fellowships for doctoral and postdoctoral research.” The chief philanthropists of the Discovery Institute, that pushes creationist science and education in California, are Howard and Roberta Ahmanson.

According to Group Watch, in the 1980s Howard F. Ahmanson, Jr. was a member of the highly secretive far-Right Council for National Policy, an organization that included Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North, Major General John K. Singlaub and other Iran-Contra scandal notables, as well as former Klan members like Richard Shoff. Ahmanson, heir to a savings and loan fortune, is little reported on in the mainstream U.S. press. But, English papers like The Independent are a bit more forthcoming on Ahmanson’s politics.

“On the right, figures such as Richard Mellon Scaife and Howard Ahmanson have given hundreds of millions of dollars over several decades to political projects both high (setting up the Heritage Foundation think-tank, the driving engine of the Reagan presidency) and low (bankrolling investigations into President Clinton’s sexual indiscretions and the suicide of the White House insider Vincent Foster),” wrote The Independent last November.

in mind when He wrote the Beatitudes..

"Matthew 5:2-12
And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying:

Matthew 5:3 - "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:4 - Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Matthew 5:5 - Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Matthew 5:6 - Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Matthew 5 - Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Matthew 5:8 - Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Matthew 5 - Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Matthew 5:10 - Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:11-12 - Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven."

Does anyone have the nerve to point that out to her?
