A couple of Republicans in the making? (WARNING: this is heartbreaking)

In this photo provided by the Edgewater Police Department, a 3-week-old Pekingese puppy is shown Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at the Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital in Edgewater, Colo. The puppy that two teenagers allegedly were using as a football died Saturday morning, Feb. 25, 2006, according to Jamie Petsitis, a spokeswoman at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. Police operations Cmdr. Mike Marchese said the teens could face a felony charge of animal abuse. (AP Photo/Edgewater Police Department, Mike Marchese)

12. I don't blame you.
I was SO pissed when I saw this. I want to kick their sick little asses. I want them in prison for the rest of their lives and I want them to die miserable deaths and burn in a very special place in Hell for eternity.

This level of cruelty is UNbelievable. But what can we expect with 'role models' like George bu$h, who uses torture of innocent people to impose "Democracy" upon other nations? There you go.

28. The only thing I worry about with my almost 2 year old nephew is...
Him hugging our barely 2 year old kitties a little too hard when he kisses them. We watch him, closely, and tell him to be gentle, he doesn't KNOW his own strength, but these kids mentioned in the OP are disturbed, no question about it.

16. Turns out, though, there were no teenagers.
The puppy came from a home in Edgwater -- Animal Control removed 8 dogs from this residence (eight dogs total) and the young woman who made the accusation (as well as her parents) is being investigated by police.

17. Here's the story.
EDGEWATER - Edgewater Police bought her story at first. Now they say 19-year-old Desirae McGee has a lot of explaining to do.

McGee faces one count of filing a false report for telling police last week that she saw two teenage boys playing catch with a 3-week-old puppy. That puppy died on Saturday from its injuries. It turns out, according to police, that the puppy lived inside her Edgewater home and was likely injured when McGee's 14-year-old developmentally disabled brother stepped on it.

(SNIP)

Edgewater Police also announced she'll face a misdemeanor child abuse charge. When investigators went into her home on Sunday they say they found extremely dirty conditions inside. McGee's own infant lives in the home as well.

Edgewater Police say it does not look like anyone will be charged for animal cruelty however. A spokesperson says it looks like the 14-year-old boy accidentally stepped on the puppy.

it's been in the local papers (Denver). The woman who told the story is suspected of making it up
and she is now under investigation for abusing the dog.

23. GOOD!
I'm glad to at least hear that the puppy didn't die that way. But I still am suspicious of how a 14-year old boy stepping on a puppy would kill it unless he was very large and stomping rather than stepping -- or something else happened instead? I guess the kid could have been just totally out of touch with any reality. Seems some further investigation is in order.

20. The owner lied. She made up the whole thing.
Edited on Wed Mar-01-06 01:51 PM by Touchdown
"Edgewater police said Sunday they no longer believe the statements made by a young woman who said she rescued a small puppy after seeing two teenagers toss it between them near 20th Avenue and Otis Street on Friday.

Desirae McGee, 19, told police she saw two male teens tossing something back and forth on the sidewalk near her front yard when she went to check her mailbox around noon Friday. She took the puppy from the boys and later took it for treatment. The puppy was badly injured and died Saturday.

The police have taken a number of animals from the home where McGee lives at 20th and Otis - including cats, dogs, kittens and puppies - and put them in foster care.

McGee is now one of two "persons of interest" police are questioning about the case. The other is a juvenile who also lives there. "

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_3550361

Update for Today. Her developmentally disabled brother (14) stepped on the dog accidentally

"Desirae McGee first said that she rescued the puppy from two teens who were tossing what she thought was a football. She said when she got closer, she realized it was an animal. McGee said that she grabbed the Pekingese from them and that the boys ran away. She took the puppy to Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, where efforts to save it failed. Veterinarians said the puppy had internal injuries and breathing problems.

Police executed a search warrant at McGee's home Sunday. They said they found evidence that led them to believe that the puppy actually belonged to McGee.

Police then determined her 14-year-old brother had accidentally stepped on the puppy. "

34. You got me. Nobody but her knows right now.
This is an ongoing story right now. This twist just came out Tuesday. I'll post Tomorrow's Rocky Mountain News story on it if anything develops.

Maybe she hated the boys and wanted to get at them, or protect her brother. Either way, she should've considered that she also owned this puppy's siblings/littermates before she filed the police report, which they would find out and caught her in a lie.

21. Boy this thing sure died fast.
This thread was all hot and active when this was thought to be true, but a girl tried to frame two boys by making shit up about them (which sounds like a future swiftboater to me), and if she got away with it they would be put away for felonies they didn't commit. But I guess there would be no outrage over that, since the dog's death was an accident, and not some easy to outrage animal terrorist football game.:eyes:

22. what amazed me about the whole thing was the local tv news
channels making such a big deal out of this when it happened... without even questioning anything...

sensationalism sells I guess, but still

the press should show a little more responsibility

and maybe ask a few questions?

before presenting stories like this one as the god's honest truth

...there was a lot of shady business in the situation that needs to be investigated. If the girl lied then she ought to be punished. She could have RUINED the boys' lives if her lie stood. And I stick to my original post title: A REPUBLICAN in the making. A swiftboater in training.

If it was an accident that her brother stepped on the puppy, that should have been the end of it.
She just wanted money, apparently. I'm really glad it wasn't two boys playing ball with it. It really got my bad side riled up. Thanks for updating this. Makes me wonder how she can live with a lie like that. :spank:

35. UPDATE! The plot thickens...
Vet cites injuries from 'being thrown' in pup's death

A 3-week-old Pekingese puppy that died Saturday had fluid build- up around the lungs, a choking injury "consistent with being thrown in the air and caught," a veterinarian said in a court affidavit.
-snip-
Court documents show that McGee told police she rescued the puppy from two teenagers who she said were tossing it around Friday. She also claimed the puppy wasn't hers.

But neighbors told police the puppy belonged to McGee, and police obtained a warrant to search the home of her parents in the 2000 block of Otis Street, according to a Jefferson County Court affidavit filed Sunday.
-snip-
McGee faces one count of child abuse; her parents, Christine, 39, and Michael, 38, face two counts of child abuse. Police issued them summonses but did not take them into custody.

This might be an answer why she chose to frame two neighbor boys, instead of tell the truth.

An alert for American voters and humane educators everywhere appeared on May 21 in the 61st through 64th paragraphs of a 76-paragraph NEW YORK TIMES feature on the childhood of Republican candidate for U.S. president George W. Bush -- if anyone noticed.

"One of the local rituals for children," reported Nicholas D. Kristof of Life in Midland, Texas, when George W. was a boy, "were meetings with cookies and milk at the home of a nice old lady who represented the SPCA. The cookies were digested more thoroughly than the teachings."

"We were terrible to animals," recalled Throckmorton, laughing. A dip behind the Bush borne turned into a small lake after a good rain, and thousands of frogs would come out. "Everybody would get BB guns and shoot them," Throckmorton said. "Or we'd put firecrackers in the frogs and throw them and blow them up."

Kristof made plain that "we" explicitly included George W. Bush, and that George W., the Safari Club International «Governor of the Year» in 1999 for his support of trophy hunting, was the leader among the boys who did it.
