Happy Birthday Chelsea Clinton
Just thought it would be nice to send a Happy Birthday wish out to Chelsea Clinton, from the D.U. family.

We all watched Chelsea turn into a poised, intelligent, graceful young woman, someone the American family can truly be proud of.

Here's the entry I wrote about her for Demopedia:

13. Thank you so much! I need to do some more entries for them...
And yes, Chelsea is truly a class act, isn't she? Even under the glare of the spotlight, she never faltered. She excelled in her studies, supported her parents, and just turned out to be a terrific human being.

Bill and Hillary, ya done good!

11. Looks like Bill and Hillary did A. O.K.
Chelsea Clinton received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University in California, and obtained her Master's Degree from Oxford University, where her father studied as a Rhodes Scholar. She wrote her thesis on the Global Fund to Combat AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. Her father asked her how he fared on the subject. She responded "You didn't do near enough. But you did more than anybody else in the whole world, so you come out OK."

The world is a better place w/ Ms. Chelsea in it.

14. You beat me too it. My thoughts also.
As I sometimes say to my son: You're a credit to your race, the human race.
Those words would do just fine for Chelsea.

21. Wow! Did you just hit the nail on the head or what?
Contrast the speech that the Kerry children gave at the Democratic convention in 2004, versus the one the Bush girls gave. No comparison at all.

Let's review some of the snippets from the speeches, shall we:

From Alexandra Kerry's speech:

"Years later, when I was driving back to college with him, brooding as only a nineteen-year-old can, my father told me to look outside. He said, "Ali, this is a beautiful day. Feel the sun. Look at the country you live in." The passion of his words makes me remember them, still, ten years later. He said: "I know men your exact age, who thought they had the same future you have. Whose families were never born, who never again walked on American soil. They don't feel this sun. Ali," he said. "If there's something you don't like, something that needs to be changed, change it. But never, ever give up. Remember that you are alive. And that you are an American. Those two things make you the luckiest girl in the world."

"And let me tell you this, when he loves you as he loves me and my sister and his family, as he loves the men who fought beside him _ there is no sacrifice too great. When he cares for you, as he cares for this country, there are no surer hands, and no wiser heart. And so when he teaches you, by the life he has led, as he has taught me and my sister all of our lives, there is no better lesson: That the future of this country is not only his life's work. It's mine and yours. It is all of our life's work, all of us."

From Jenna and Barbara Bush's speech:

"Gammie, we love you dearly, but you're just not very hip. She thinks "Sex and the City" is something married people do, but never talk about."

"We kept trying to explain to my dad that when we are young and irresponsible, well, we're young and irresponsible."

"But, contrary to what you might read in the papers, our parents are actually kind of cool. They do know the difference between mono and Bono. When we tell them we're going to see Outkast, they know it's a band and not a bunch of misfits. And if we really beg them, they'll even shake it like a Polaroid picture."

You're absolutely, right, it was a wonderful tribute to her father.

And it just makes you cringe when you watch Jenna and Barbara's speech, or read the text of it.

25. Still a little pissed @ Al for letting his daughter run so much of
his campaign in 2000 ..... a little over her head .... but he did win the thing.

I met Chris Heinz in 04 ....... class act. And the Kerry daughters always had somebody tell them what
city and group they were speaking to before going on stage ..... that way they avoided what the bush twins
did @ a invitation only talk @ Ohio State ... the said it was great to be @ Iowa State.

Family values can really be seen in Kerry, Gore, & Clinton's children.
