I think he just got caught not caring about the security of this nation. Smirky does not want a secure nation. It would not fit into his plans for fear mongering. He has never cared for the security of this nation. That is why they ignored the 52 warnings that terrorists were trying to hijack airplanes, that is why they have ignored port security. That is why they have ignored other serious lapses in the security of this nation. Smirky needs insecurity, he needs fear, he needs a boogey man, he needs civil war, he needs red state/blue state strife, he needs the scattering of opposition strongholds (NOLA), and he needs the oppression of dissent.
