Anderson Cooper just reported that Dubai Ports World
is offering to delay the plan to oversee the ports. I don't have any other details. It was just announced.

Frankly, I still think it ought to be 86'd.

2. Delay the plan until NO ONE is paying attention
no doubt. KKKRove must have called in a bail-out by Dubai. They will just do a back door deal.

14. Yeah. Maybe they can have Lynne Cheney go slap a cop...
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 11:10 PM by land of the free
as a nice distraction.

Or, maybe there can be another "terrorist threat" that they can release... something like "there is a terrorist plot to attack a city in the northeast at some point some day maybe. Be afraid."

Then, during the press ruckus, they can get the deal done.

4. I think that's it then. The trial balloon sank like it was made out of
lead. In the meantime Dubai ports will be reincorporated under a friendlier flag and name and still wind up with the job and raking in the dough for Cheney and Helliburton.

5. All they need is Cheney to go hunting again
And slip it through while we are watching that fiasco or another damn scandal of the week. Basically they are saying, "Okay you object, we will say whatever you need to hear and THEN we can pass it through."

7. But could Bush do a "recess appointment" on this?
It's not like appointing a person to a judgeship or something, which is, unfortunately, allowed. I'm not saying that Bush wouldn't have the right to do it; I just don't know if he does.

I think, though, he would put the final nail in his coffin if he did. There are so many people on the right, as well as the left, who are totally pissed about this, that I don't think he could get away with it and not face harsh consequences.

he will see consequences if he sneaks this through . . . assuming we know about it when it happens . . . and it WILL happen.

17. My bad! My facetious detector must have been turned off!
I do think he will face some serious consequences if he tries to ram this through. Joe Sixpack, NASCAR dads, soccer moms, and nearly every other "type" of person is pissed as hell about this.

(And I am being facetious here -- I don't like categorizing people like that. :hi: )

8. Thanks for giving us our 9-11 for the election though.
We need to get back to showing the great success in Iraq now. That's our 9-11 number two. See ya with a Democratic Congress.

10. Rove and Dubai backing off? I think they're trying to stop any hearings
or any investigation into this whole thing. It shouldn't matter ~ there needs to be a real investigation as to how this happened without even the President knowing, or Congress ~ what are they trying to hide?

It was raising the question of who is running this country and drawing attention, thanks to Rush Limbaugh's little talking point about 9/11, to the fact that a Kuwaiti company and Bush's brother Marvin were involved in 'security' when 9/11 happened.

It's not like these people to withdraw from anything ~ and it's all the more reason for Congress to bring them all in for questioning, imo.

18. You know, if the folks who up 'till now have blindly supported W
are pissed at him, I think Rushbo and his ilk will have a hard time spinning this one. This is hitting people where they live, literally and figuratively!

WASHINGTON - A United Arab Emirates company offered Thursday to delay part of its $6.8 billion takeover of most operations at six U.S. ports to give the Bush administration more time to convince skeptical lawmakers the deal poses no security risks.
