Woodward: Cheney could be '08 nominee
http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/metro/stories/MYSA022206.01B.woodward.129cfa8d.html

<snip>
Woodward said the possibility of "the Mideast imploding," cannot be dismissed, and that his darkest fear, shared by some in the intelligence community, is that terrorists are waiting until "multiple, high-stakes attacks" can be launched on U.S. cities and targets.

He said, "9-11 will be a footnote, but it could happen, and if it does, we will become a police state."

Even as he scolded the media's tendency to prophesy the future, Woodward offered his prediction for the 2008 presidential race.

By all indications, he said, Democrat Hillary Clinton is running.

He noted that Republicans have a long track record of nominating "old war horses."

Given that, and depending on how things in Iraq proceed, "You're going to think I'm crazy, but you heard it here first. I think they could nominate Dick Cheney."

4. Cheney's platform
Evil - Evil will be the law of the land

Guns - Anyone who is registered as a Republican will be given a Sniper Rifle and an Assault Rifle, Democrats will have their guns confiscated, but they will get red and white circles that they can put on their backs

Religion - Cheney = God

"Cheney in 08, because somebody has to break the rest of the Republican Party out of Prison"

6. These rat bastards...
they can't wait to impose total control over the American people. Cheney is polling in the mid 20's and Woodward thinks he'd be nominated for 2008? Has he lost what little mind he ever had?

17. Woodward has been vacationing in Amsterdam
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 04:19 PM by leveymg
since he talked to Fitz, and was quietly let go by The Post. Bob's spending a lot of down time sitting alone, scribbling on the back of napkins at a backroom table in the same local "Kafe hause" by the main canal. Occasionally, he giggles shrilly to himself at his own mysterious, silent jokes. :smoke: He's a bad tipper, and doesn't wash often enough, but nobody's thrown him out yet.

Back to reality, Bob. Cheney won't even finish his term, much less be nominated as the GOP candidate for President in 2008.

Woodward gets stranger as he ages, badly.

20. I bet Cheney told him to say that
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 04:45 PM by Marie26
Just like Cheney's cabal told Woodward another scoop in, oh, about July. Woodward has always been an Administration guy, and if he has "sources" whispering about a terrorist attack & Cheney nomination, I'd bet those sources are within the White House. Think about that for a second. :scared:

23. Cheney absolutely wants the presidency in '08.
That's why he's being so secretive about everything he does. Remember how it was kept secret about being the VP choice for the 2000 election? Same thing with the '08 election, he doesn't want anyone to know until he's ready to spring it on everyone at the right moment. Apparently he thinks it will keep the press off his back by keeping it under the cloak of secrecy. That's also why he tried to cover-up the recent boozing/shooting incident, kinda made him look a little too reckless. Not good for a presidential wannabee. And then there's the Plame affair, which he's trying hard to weasel out of by having the constitution twisted to cover his ass. My guess he's not happy with the co-regency with Chimp, a person Cheney probably has nothing but contempt for. Yeah, he wants to be Prez in a bad way. Never going to happen in a million years though. ;-)

27. Cheney run for president? Please.
He is unpopular and uncharismatic. He is involved front and center in every Republican scandal. His terrible judgment and mind-numbing incompetence are responsible for the mess America is in today.

Oh, and he's ugly too. And a liar.
