MSNBC: Curling vs. Imus? There are those that think
curling is better, but this is a really bad move for MSNBC, imo. Has that shark been jumped?

1. I'll take curling over hurling anytime.
Seriously I've enjoyed the curling because you get a chance to hear the conversations between teammates.

2. I'm getting a kick out of this Curling interest. It started four
years ago at the last Olympics. It really is as exciting as watching paint dry and i think it shows how bored we are at the Winter Olympics. Are the ratings up over Imus? That would be a kick in the head.

3. It's on MSNBC, so it doesn't need fake drama like NBC's coverage
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 09:24 AM by drbtg1
No, I don't think shuffleboard on ice is very exciting either, but it's better than the Davis-Hedrick pseudo-drama or the Bode Miller show that is on the main network. To be honest, I'm glad the curlers are getting some exposure, even if it's just MSNBC, instead of getting completely shut out by manufactured dramatics.

8. Yeah, I know. My point wasn't trying to correct you.
It was trying to state this was stuff, just pure sport, on a little viewed network and consequently can have something that doesn't need the fake drama for the NBC network. Sorry if the subject line was misleading.

5. I love curling! And, I don't even understand the scoring!
It looks lime lots of fun and it's very competitive. Plus it's a team sport and the fans are crazy!

13. I love curling too. You're right the fans are crazy.
It's been fun to watch with a group of people. The men think it should be more violent and the women want to understand it and what and why they're yelling. Just bought this book from Amazon:

16. Cool book! I'll have to check it out.
Apparently, curling is all the rage with the New Yorl City stock broker set. They are watching it in bars and placing informal bets!

17. I have been enjoying it, too, and looked online for rules----
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curling

This is a quick overview, and helped me figure out some of what the hell was going on.

10. Curling moves along at a faster rate than Imus' thinking,
so I'd think it would be a good move. Also, in curling, even if it takes forever, something gets accomplished.

12. I don't know
Imus has times where he is really informative, and other times where he is really boring. At least the curling commentators hype it up so it sounds interesting.

14. Curling involves more yelling and more intelligence than Imus.
The guy is becoming senile, and Charles may have himself fooled with that doo, but he's fighting a losing battle.

Johnny and Ed looked younger when they hung it up.

19. Reruns of "Joey" are better than Imus
Personally, I despise Don Imus, but to each his/her own.

It's a fascinating amalgam of the ridiculous and the sublime - laughably subtle. After all, how many men would take pride in sweeping in any other venue? Does the lead (throwing the first stone) have to be without sin?

23. curling is like watching
paint dry on the wall! I'd rather have Imus, at least it can get interesting evry now and then.

24. I've watched several HOURS of it and still have no idea
what the heck it is all about! It looks about as "athletic" as bar darts! But I have enjoyed it.

I was wathcing the women this morning. Something about the women yelling "Hard!" "Harder!" struck me funny!

27. It's like bar shuffleboard
That long game in the bar where you push the little round puck and try to knock off your opponents puck. It's better than bowling, that's for damn sure.
