Today and tomorrow and the next day Cindy Sheehan is being beaten up by F
Yes that is right. Today at this very hour, my hero Cindy Sheehan is being
slammed and dunked by Freepers on Websites across the MidWest.

Google if you will Cindy Sheehan + Saint Xavier and go see for yourself some of the awful comments being made about Cindy at the right wing websites

You might notice that on those websites, people can discuss things as long as needed. So Cindy will continue to be bashed as long as those Freepers are
able to type. Can you check these current comments out right now for me?

What can you do about this? Well I would like to, as a Coastal Post
reporter, get to the bottom of what happened last week at Saint Xaviers.

I call on all DU'ers to google as instructed above and then post your reactions.

Isn't it wonderful that our conservative friends are calling Cindy a B****
even now at this moment... Some are saying that they should put tpogether a movement to adopt her dead son because she has proven to not be worthy of being a mother to Casey since she has "betrayed" him...

If any of you saw Cindy last week at Saint Xavier's I would love to hear your comments as well. I apologize in advance for posting rules but I live in Californai and only found out about ten hours ago.

As a reporter for The Coastal Post, I will be putting together an article about this Cindy bashing. My deadline is tomorrow that is I am writing the story RIGHT now and for the next twelve hours. The story is, I repeat, being played out on Websites where comments are being lodged right now.

about this if you had an angle. What type of story have you been assigned?

Edited to remove a comment that may be construed as snarky. Apologies.

3. I hope you do not intend
to engage in some "midwest" bashing yourself.

"slammed and dunked by Freepers on Websites across the MidWest."

Websites have a tendency to be nationwide and you might be interested to know that there are more Bush voters in California than there are in Kansas and Nebraska combined.

5. I was born and raised in Chi-town
and I would be the first to insist that you can take the
girl out of the Windy City but you can't take the WIndy City
out of the girl.

I live in California <sigh> I am well aware that so many people
think that everything east of Las Vegas is about Bible thumping
War-worshipping, brain dead holy-rollers.

I have tried for the last twenty years to explain to Californians (Many
of whom have never left their own home town) that the MidWest is the
home to some of the zaniest free-spirited and fun-loving people on earth.

So please relax. There will be very little MidWest dissing per se.
I do plan to slam all the Freepers, regardless of where they live.

Having written for the Coastal Post for nine years, I am often slammed
by Freepers right here on the West Coast.

Carol

because Los Angeles is east of Reno.

4. Living in California My article needs the local flavor of
Any of you who were able to attend the event.(Held in Chicago)

A close friend of mine is an administrator at Saint Xavier's.
We didn't get around to discussing this in depth until today.

From what my friend told me, there were almost an equal amount
of pro-Cindy attendess and anti-Cindy fascistas.

Most of the Freeper fascist crowd stayed outside because they did not want
to pay the fee ($5) to get in. But at least 30 to 40 Freepers did
go into the auditorium and disrupted it by singing things like
"America The Beautiful" and "God Bless America" at the top of their
lungs so that Cindy's speech was drowned out.

I am keeping fingers crossed that I can get someone out there to
give me a full report.

Thanks again.

'Peace Mom' greeted by protests at St. Xavier
February 17, 2006
By Mark J. Konkol Staff Reporter

http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-sheehan17.html

-snip-

(dozens gathered outside... signs that read "Support Our Troops")

-snip-

Sheehan suggested she was going to stay away from politics on this night, telling an audience of more than 300 -- including protesters who stood on the bleachers with their backs to her -- the story of why she became involved in the anti-war effort and how one person can make a difference.

She talked about how her son shared a birthday with John F. Kennedy and died in Iraq on April 4, 2004, the same date Martin Luther King was killed. That's when the protesters in the crowd started heckling her.

When she started reading her daughter's anti-war poem, something that spurred her to the peace movement, about 20 protesters inside the gym walked out, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and screaming at her.

-snip-

(and especially THIS***** )

She went on to say: "If you care about the troops, do more than carry a sign or put up a bumper sticker . . . (*****) if you support this war and President Bush, march to your recruiter's office and sign up."

-snip-

Peace

10. The thing the Sun Times did not mention
Was that inside the auditorium were two to three hundred people.

Not many were FREEPERS (Most Freepers instead chose to stay
outside the auditorium as they did not want to pay five dollars
to get in.)
The FREEPERS population stayed mostly outside. But inside,
as I understand it, the group of Freeps there did manage to
drown her out by singing songs like "America The Beautiful"
etc.

15. there is a link to the Sun Times article up there. it did say that. and
there were vigils to support Cindy, too. those mentioned outside are not specified as supporters, or freeps. "Support Our Troops" is what Cindy and many of us put on posters, tees demanding to bring them home NOW.

i, like it seems others might have, felt that your opening MO fit the usual freeper trolling here - "i heard freepers saying... " - hence my tone. what you've said since convinces me you are not that, so i apologize.

thank you for your interest in this, in our opinions, and in re-educating the ignorant.

Peace!

16. post 9 i put a link to the Sun Times piece. just put the info like that,
and paste the URL of the piece there, and you've put a link.

if you quote a piece, do not use more than 4 paragraphs of it, due to copyright.

not that we really need to see what freeps have to say. it is all too boringly predictable.

peace!

and copy the address. To do that, slide your cursor over the address and highlight it. (It's the long thing up top that begins with 'http'). Then copy it, as you would any text. And paste it here in a reply.

Here is the address for THIS page I am typing on now:

14. I hate to say this, but an article about Cindy getting heckled is light
weight. What is the purpose of this article? To show that some RW websites are roughing her up? Pffft. Why don't you talk about the general smear campaign going on against her in the regular press or something like that?!?!?!

Sorry I've lost my sympathy for the media!!

17. Reporting 101: Do Your Own Research
Also, reading other articles about her appearance at St Xavier's last week isn't really reporting - you may be writing an essay based on the observations of others, but you can't report about what you didn't observe yourself.

Pay them no mind. They're irrelevent and powerless.
