United Arab Emirates jails 11 gays/Bush calls UAE a leading partner
Eleven men who were accused of being gay by the United Arab Emirates have been jailed.

The men, who were arrested last year after apparently attending a gay wedding party, were given five-year sentences for homosexuality and one-year sentences for obscenity by the Abu Dhabi court, according to reports.

A 12th man was given a one-year jail sentence for obscenity, the Agence France Presse news service reported. However, he was acquitted of homosexuality along with 14 other men.

"Eleven men have confessed to practicing homosexuality," an official told AFP on Sunday.

=====
The Bush administration says the company poses no threat, and calls the united arab emirates a leading partner in the fight against terrorism.

"I think the UAE has demonstrated its friendship to the US. So if you had to pick an Arab region or Arab country, I think the UAE would be one of the safer bets. Maybe not the best bets, just a safer bet in my opinion," adds Martines.

1. Well isn't that just terrific. Our new best buddy nation is as bad as
it gets.

The five year sentence is unspeakable.

2. I don't claim to know the inside scoop on the UAE port security deal,
but I have an on-going distrust of the Bush administration's handling of just about anything.

A new government in Iraq may very well be a misogynist oligarchy once it's finally "assembled," and now they want to turn port security over to a country that jails human beings for having sex.

For Christ's sake, let's get the impeachment ball rolling.

4. Bushler is helping the evil 9/11 islamo-terra-ists get ready to kill
thousands of Christian babies here in America. The next attack will be due to the DIRECT COOPERATION between Bushler and Ayrab terrists.

they're not that different from the zealots who are running things here.

Anti-gay legislation is being written into state constitutions as we speak, and they're not stopping until they write it into the US Constitution.

Gays are not welcome in the military, unless they pretend to be straight. If they're outed, they're thrown out in shame.
It's despicable, they've served their country just like the rest of us and deserve recognition for their dedication and sacrifice.

GLBT people cannot adopt children in most states, and many of them have lost custody of their biological children for no other reason than they're not heterosexual.

It is perfectly legal in many states to discriminate against GLBT people.

Religious fundamentalism is on the rise here, they've infiltrated every part of our government and public sector.

How much longer do you think we'll be able to point at them and shake our heads?

11. People are delusional if they think
what happened there can't happen here.

Why can't they see it's already happening?
