Connect the dots . . . food programs .... milk . . . FDA

This is just a thought but the timing really stood out to me. The Congress passes a budget with $700M in cuts to food programs and then the FDA comes out with a report that calcium supplements don't help you as much as you think they do. Seems to me the dairy industry screamed a bit and the administration said "don't worry we'll have a report come out to help make people buy more dairy to try to offset what you are losing."

1. Sometimes a cake is just a cake.
I've been connecting dots on other things and keep making spaghetti rather than the cute picture of the cuddly teddy bear I'd wanted...

Still, it's a fact that the BEST way to get vitamins is to ingest them with real food products. Supplmenets are that; supplements. This isn't the Jetsons where pill-popping is all the rage.

Either way, the fact that the governemnt would dismantle food programs citing "expensive" while doing nothing about the offshoring/job problem is admittedly worrisome. That's why I'm observing and figuring out what career I can get into, on my own, as a small biz.

Pity the government prefers to avoid small biz in favor of large ones...

2. Not so fast, hypno...it's not just the calcium report!
I agree, sometimes things are merely as they seem. But that all too often is not the case with this misadminstration. If the ruling on supplements was a stand-alone event, then I'd be more inclined to agree that OPs concerns might be overblown. However, consider the other ruling and press releases we've heard over the course of the past couple of weeks: It doesn't help you to eat a low-fight diet? WTF? Anti-oxidants do nothing to ward off cancer? Look, maybe still each and every one of these findings/releases is absolutely true, who knows. And five or six year ago when my cynicism levels were significantly lower, I might have given these releases a pass without a second look. But given BushCo's demonstrated propensity to make up science in order to advance it's own agenda, I'd say these information releases bear close watching.

Me, I'm not going back on the Big Macs and fries and dropping the multi-vites just because BushCo says they're okay. It seems that would only benefit THE HEALTH CARE industry!

In fact...there is a comic strip about this very subject, and I happen to draw it!

HOO Cares!
