Protesters Threaten To Post Photos Of Strip Club Visitors On Internet

POSTED: 12:23 am EST February 17, 2006
UPDATED: 12:37 am EST February 17, 2006

Protesters of a strip club in Flagler County, Fla., are threatening to post on the Internet photos of people who visit the club unless the business relocates, according to Local 6 News.

Several residents held signs and protested the Liquid Adult Dance Club located off Highway A1A in Flagler Beach Thursday.

The club is built in an area zoned for residential and commercial use.

Protesters said they won't tolerate having an adult club in their neighborhood. So, they are setting up tents near the property and are threatening to photograph patrons and then put them online.

5. Do these people seriously have nothing better to do?
Can't they go volunteer at a soup kitchen, a drop-in-center, a food bank?

Can't they use their photography skills to start a website about butterflies?

When people just force their opinions down your throat like this, and then threaten others with "exposure" (ooooh, so scandalous to go look at well-paid naked women for a few hours), it makes me really want to punch them in the kisser.

10. Let's put one in YOUR neighborhood...

Many moons ago, we used to live in a neighborhood that had an adult entertainment club. I am all for the ability to express one's right to entertain themselves however they see fit, so long as it is removed from residential life. If you happen to live in a residential area which happens to adjoin commercial property, it is your obligation to sell your property, not the legitimate business owner's responsibility. If this "commercial zone" suddenly appears in a residential neighborhood, then there is plenty of cause for community outrage.

The debauchery that would transpire outdoors from the adult entertainment club would ensue twenty-four hours a day. From excessive speeding to vulgar language and fistfights, the club was an eyesore and a public safety liability. Being pro-adult entertainment, is this they type of environment that you would want your children exposed to? Your seven year old daughter? I can see exactly the point that these individuals have in not wanting to invite such business into their community.

Do I agree with the tactic that they have decided to employ? Certainly not. Also though, however, I cannot necessarily say that I do not disagree with their cause.

on edit: spare me the turncoat politics accusations, please.

7. This tactic is becoming more and more popular
I've seen stories like this about numerous adult stores around the country.

I wouldn't tolerate this very well if someone tried to do it to me. I'd be 1ft from their face screaming into a megaphone until they left.

11. That's just down the road from here and this is the first I've heard of it
Flagler Beach, until a few years ago, had a "Welcome To Flagler Beach" sign that said "Come Back Again" on the other side.

Well, not really, but you could drive by the A1A side of the town in less than two minutes going thirty-five miles per hour.

There used to be a live and let live attitude in this part of Florida. Sigh, that is long gone. Along with the intolerable over development of what was once Paradise, there has come an attitude of Zero Tolerance toward every thing that doens't follow the anti-abortion, anti-porn, anti-anything-not-Religious-Right-Republican-belief-pattern.

I wonder if this strip club is owned by the same people (Cafe Erotica) who waged a decade or more long battle in St. Johns County... They just folded up shop there for good a couple of months ago. When they first opened the then County Commission crafted an ordinance which not only out lawed strip clubs and public nudity, it also described in great detail just how much of the body had to be covered by a bathing suit while on pubic beaches (139 words to describe how much of the posterior must be covered). That ordinance, which made a national laughing stock of the then Commissioners, is still in effect...
