What if it had been Cheney that had been shot ?

What if it had been Cheney that had been shot ?
How long before it would have been breaking news on CNN and FOX? My bet is that we would have heard about it the Saturday evening of the shooting. Reporters would ahve been at the hospital with a minute by minute account about how he was progressing. There would visuals about how it happened. But, somehow it's different when it is the VP that does the shooting?

it would have been EXACTLY the same!

the only thing that could POSSIBLY have been different is that whittington would have been ORDERED to go home and drink more, whereas cheney already had the implicit authority to order himself to drink more.

That is, assuming that Cheney didn't use his Sith powers to block the shot and yank the gun out of the shooter's hand
