Big weapons stash found after crash

Cops searching a mangled van after an alcohol-fueled wreck on Staten Island found 40 knives, 11 guns, a donkey-shaped piñata - and a metal sign that reads "Hang Cheney," law enforcement sources said yesterday.

Police also found cocaine, prescription pills, a 3-foot-long samurai sword and the driver, city transportation worker Glenn Kittel, trapped inside under a crushed dashboard.

Investigators weren't sure what to make of the arsenal, but neighbors said Kittel, 45, is a hunter - and an oddball.

"I see him once or twice a week," said neighbor Dominick Frascello. "He looked kinda weird."

Kittel was in stable condition yesterday at Staten Island University Hospital after the one-vehicle wreck about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday on Targee St.

Police said Kittel sped through a curve and slammed into a tree near Baltic Ave. He was charged with four counts of weapons possession and driving while impaired.

whatever...he is in trouble, and it is his fault. No supposed phoney terrorist attack will change that. The way he handled this, he would have been better off getting shot himself.
