I'm talking about gay marriage and banning abortion. I don't see how either of these can be used to stir up the sheeple, because if the repukes really wanted to do something about these matters, they had the numbers in Congress to do it. The fact that nothing was really done in the past two years shows that they aren't interested in doing anything with these issues except playing politics.

They can and will try to bring up all the same bullshit issues they did in 2004 - gay marriage, banning abortion, banning drugs... scaring the sheep by using the repuke media to reiterate their bullshit is what they do best, they dont really have any other tactics to win elections but that.

4. They can use some

1. Gay marriage - still an issue

2. Abortion - Nope, they lost that issue when they gained Roberts and Alito.

3. Intelligent Design - Nope, the "Business Community" (which needs lots of trained people) sees that this is killing manufacturing, and especially research, development.

4. Terror, National Security -- Nope. Katrina killed that one.

5. COUNTER: Will banning gay marriage lower the price of gas?
Or banning abortion?
Or making kids pray in school?

Works pretty well on most people.

6. Yes, they will be used.
Several reasons.

First, because they work. Maybe the Repukes haven't come through for their base on these issues, but what, you think they're going to turn to the Dems?? Best scenario, they sit it out.

Second, yes they had the number in Congress to do something about it, and they did. Roberts & Alito. They had to turn the Supreme Court, and they are well on the way. Bush ran on this very issue, and he has delivered to his base, big time. And there isn't much use Congress doing anything until the Court says it's Constitutional.

Third, because due to the brave resistance of a few patriotic Democratic leaders, the RW agenda is still not complete. So they have something to run on. For instance, abortion is, as of now, still legal. The SC will, sometime in the near future, turn it back over to the States. That's when the fat hits the fire. They will run and run on this IN EACH STATE. We have to be ready with decent candidates who can express our views and convince the undecided voters that WE ARE RIGHT.

I know there have been lots of posts on DU saying the Republicans don't want Roe v Wade reversed so they can keep running against it. I say, 'Bullshit'. They think they have a winner, leading the sheeple around by the nose. And if we don't do everything possible, they might well be right. But they want to keep issues like abortion and gay marriage on the table. That doesn't mean that they won't pass the laws their base wants, though. Because, unless the progressive left just folds up its tent and goes away, they will try to repeal said laws. Ergo, the issues stay on the table.
