Yes, yes, it's terribly amusing...BUT
I realize it's a very funny story on the surface of it. One of this country's most bloodless political figures accidently shoots a companion on a hunting trip. WE know we're only finding it funny because the guy wasn't seriously injured, but maybe we should tone it down a little lest we find our mockery thrown back in our faces.

Take your shots when you have them.

18. Take the right shots
And so far we aren't really doing that either. It's a mistake to turn this into a total joke. The trick is admonishment combined with ridicule, so we appear to be on the high road while we're beating them into the ground. We don't know how to do that at all, that's why we always end up on the losing end of these spitting matches.

Admonish and ridicule. Bad bad Cheney. Bad hunter. And on a game farm with planted quail, no less. What a joke. Tsk tsk tsk.

28. More to the point...
Absolutely irresponsible and bordering on criminally negligent.

Taking down a lawyer with "friendly fire" isn't the way to reform the legal system. ;)

30. I'm not all sure the "high road" is either understood or appreciated by
the unwashed masses these days. We have tried that path and mostly gotten boulders falling on our heads. The Reich-wingers have said for a couple decades "the best defense is a good offense" and it has worked. I don't mind playing on a reasonably level field but this shit recently is a 45 degree plane, and we're on the bottom 15 yard line, the referees are all on THEIR side and they make up the rules as they go.

37. You miss the point
Here's how you do it. Admonish and ridicule them, while placing yourself above reproach. Not taking the high road, just giving it the appearance of the high road.

Had he been seriously injured, the tone would be entirely different, you can rest assured.

And no, the tone wouldn't be different, note the continuous shots on Laura the murderer, when there is no evidence at all that that was anything except an accident.

9. Not sure it isn't serious injury
On a CNN early interviews the hospital guy would only say stable condition.

But later interview noted he was in intensive care in stable condition.

If you are in intensive care a day later it isn't minor.

16. It was criminal negligence
It truly was and just about any hunter in the country would be in serious legal trouble over this. That's our first mistake in not taking this seriously. And if we want to let that go, the second mistake is not labeling Cheney in a way that would be offensive to THEIR voters; a road hunter who road hunts on a GAME FARM no less, how weak is that.

it's funny, but it's so classic because Cheney is that dangerous even among friends, and his friend is stupid to trust that evil bastard to hang with him with a gun. it's not as if evilness of Dick isn't well known, ya know what i mean? The Dick is dangerous even among friends.
