Woman, 3 Kids Found Dead in Western Ohio
Woman, 3 Kids Found Dead in Western Ohio

PHILLIPSBURG, Ohio (AP) - A woman and her three children were found
shot to death in their western Ohio home on Saturday, officials said.

A handgun was found in the neat and orderly home, and investigators
were interviewing the woman's boyfriend, who had recently moved out,
Montgomery Sheriff's Maj. Ed Copher said."I wouldn't call anybody a suspect at this time," Copher said.

Tonya Hawks, 31, and her three sons, aged 2, 4 and 5, had moved into
the rented house last summer.

"The house was secure. Nothing would suggest that it was an intruder,"
he said. "It didn't appear there was a struggle or anything."

Copher declined to answer specifics about where or how many times they
were shot, and would not release the names of the boyfriend or the
boys.

1. Shall I go to faux news or CNN for the latest on this "breaking"
national story. In 2004 there were 16,137 murders in the U.S. That's 46 per day. What's a Seattle paper doing reporting on a murder in Ohio?

3. Maybe someone should be concerned why US has so much
crime? Or is it just something no one should worry about?

5. I fear it will only get worse as our economy collapses.
Too many people are out of jobs, health care and can't afford basic neccesities.

This IMO has been the cause of the upturn in crime and murder.
Just in our area, I frequently hear about bank robbers more and more.
I mean BANK ROBBERS!!
How desperate does one have to become to succumb to crime?
If our families were unable to eat, thrown off needed welfare, unable to pay a mortgage, or unable to seek medical treatment, how many of us might turn to crime? Maybe not the crime of murder, but SOME crime?

I'm not saying that *this* particular crime was committed due to any of these causes, but it got me thinking about how many innocents are turning up murdered lately.
In Japan, when the economy turned down, suicide became rampant because many businessmen couldn't bear the shame of failure.

How many Americans are turning their anger and frustration toward their families? The people who trust them the most....? Maybe they can't see any other way if they can't afford to keep up with the financial obligations of having family dependants?

I don't know... but with the cuts in welfare, medicaid, and VA benefits (esp mental health) I just feel it will get worse.

6. I agree. There are loads of angry people out there, waiting to misbehave.
Another side effect of the great "B*sh Economy".

8. There is no upturn in crime and murder
All crime is sharply down over the past 15 years. The MSM broadcasts the weekly/daily murder because that's what pulls in the viewers. Kind of like "National Enquirer" on video.

Here's the U.S. murder rate, from http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/uscrime.htm:
