Does anyone here find this statement odd ?
"Asked yesterday by Senator Susan Collins why the administration had reacted in slo-mo on Katrina, with "people dying, people waiting to be rescued," Michael Brown replied that if FEMA had declared that a terrorist had blown up the 17th Street Canal levee, "then everybody would have jumped all over that and been trying to do everything they could."

1. The people whose carcasses were floating in neurotoxic water in
New Orleans likely didn't care if a hurricane or a terrorist burst the levees.

They were fucking DEAD.

Brown is a mess. He's just a complete mess.

8. those people wouldn't be dead if.....
the levees where blown. The Hurricane had already passed then the levees where breeched.Loud rumblings and explosions where reported by many people.

21. I didn't do a very good job of phrasing my post, Twist, and I
am sorry about that.

I was trying to say that the victims of the hurricane (or any victims, whether of terror or natural catastrophes) were ignored by the Bush administration.

Sorry about any confusion.

16. I saw it, thought he was saying that emergencies outside of terrorist
activity weren't a priority for this (mis)Administration. They are so focused, and blinded by, the terra terra terra that they keep on about that they can't see, fund or plan for anything else.

18. Not a Brown fan, but I thought the same. He was saying that FEMA
had lost its capability and resources to deal with natural disasters vs terraism.

I believe that was what he was saying.

22. BR_Parkway, you said it quite a damn bit better than I tried to up
there in my first response.

I phrased it wrong and it came out wrong.

I appreciate your putting things into a better light.

Thanks.

2. Not odd given the history of Bush administration
terrorism fits their program, natural disasters don't, especially if they involve black people who don't vote for them anyway.

6. I agree I'm Looking for the Testimony
I watched testimony the other day . There was a panel taking testimony from a group that was asking Senators for an investigation,an independent one. They where telling the panel that there was a huge crater at the bottom of the levees and some of the houses near the explosions where wrecked also but they sealed the area and allowed no one in there.Cynthia Mckinney was on the panel.

7. Not odd, but very telling.
Brownie acknowledged that the appearance of terrorism is the cabal's number one priority. They feed off the PR. Everything else is ignored.

9. It's the truth
if it were a "terrorist" act, NO would have been in rebuild mode now, not waiting for pigs to fly . . .

11. It's absolutely true.
We don't mind Americans dying, as long as it's poverty or hurricanes doing the work. In fact, we don't mind the military dying. It's the randomness of terrorism that frightens America.

12. absolutely true, and it shows that they don't care about lives and safety
it's all about war and oil and no-bid defense contracts.
saving lives and increasing safety is just a feeble excuse.
if it actually does save lives and increase safety, that's not their problem.

13. He's wrong

We actually had a terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. The bush administration reacted in slo-mo on that day, too. New Orleans only demonstrated that nothing has changed.

15. Hey DUer! That was and still is the worst time of my life.
Bush and Cheney spent every effort protecting themselves against getting caught up in some attack. Does anayone actually know where they were hiding? In any case, having Bush come down to the site was the most offensive piece of BS I've ever experienced. I guess it took him a few days to get the right outfit. He was a liar then and is a pathological liar now.

17. There were many reports of the levees being deliberately blown-up. A woman
Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 01:14 PM by OmmmSweetOmmm
who lived a few blocks from the levee testified in front of either the Senate or House, and mentioned it. It's in the Congressional Record now.

Were terrorists behind it? BFEE???? Bush's friend, the ex-head of FEMA who brokered Iraq got down to New Orleans pretty fast to make deals, didn't he? And Halliburton????

19. The very CLEAR implication is that it was deliberate and malicious neglect
No other conclusion can follow. He's clearly underlining the observation that this maladministration DOES NOTHING THAT'S NOT POLITICALLY BENEFICIAL to them. Absolutely every action is guided by the partisan political benefit to be derived and the economic calculus of where and how they best can pillage the treasury for the increased wealth of their wealthy cronies.
