Crotchsniffin' Kenny Starr Caught Forging Court Documents
"Lawyers for a death row inmate, including former Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth Starr, sent fake letters from jurors asking California’s governor to spare the man’s life, prosecutors said Friday.
The jurors denied they thought Michael Morales deserved clemency because some of the testimony at his trial may have been fabricated, said Nathan Barankin, spokesman for Attorney General Bill Lockyer.
“We showed each person the declaration on their behalf and they all said they didn’t say that,” Barankin said."

I will never forgive that rat for what he did to Susan McDougall. The jumpsuit and shackles and plenty of reporters to cover it. I still don't understand how that was even legal! I would love him to know what total humiliation is.

12. Guess he thought that because he could just make up shit
in the impeachment trial, he had a free pass to do it anywhere.

(By make up shit, I mean the "witness tampering" charge that was one of the original counts of impeachment...and turned out to refer to Clinton secretary who had never been on anyone's witness list on any issue.)

10. A few years ago
I saw Ken Starr in church. He was sitting in front of us. I shook the guy's hand, but he didn't seem as friendly as I thought he'd be. We were living in Falls Church, VA at the time.

Disappointment sets in when I see people who claim to be Christians and yet are wolves in sheeps' clothing. I don't know much about Starr, but I do know about Tom DeLay and Ralph Reed, all of whom are scandal-ridden and corrupt to the core.

I wonder when conservative christians will wake up and find they have been deceived through the worst kind of trickery - using God's name for evil selfish gain.

19. Not surprised....
Worth noting that while Starr was trying to claim that what Clinton did was perjury, he was in Federal Court in Florida trying to argue that an executive for Brown and Wiulliamson who HAD lied outright had not committed perjury.

In fact, had he the slightest scrap of ethics, he had several conflicts of interest that should have disqualified him from the appointment:
--He had been the attorney for International Paper in the Whitewater deal, and had been fired when it turned out to be a swindle...
--He had been fired by Webster Hubbell from his job as Solicitor General...
--He was defending a client who was under prosecution by Clinton's Department of Justice...
--He was secretly advising the folks behind the bogus Paula Jones lawsuit....

34. I've often had similar thoughts.
If they ever wake up to the way they've been deceived, there could be a real shitstorm.

On the other hand, sometimes it seems that the ones who follow Reed, Failwell, Robberson, et al are motivated primarily by hate, and as long as they hate the right people, then lying, stealing, and desecrating are really beside the point and of no consequence, easily explained away.

And another welcome to DU to you, Dr.Jones.

23. I feel bad for his client
and normally several of us would be on that person's side against the death penalty. I hope that the glee regarding Starr doesn't blind folks to the plight of this dude.

I don't know the particulars of his crime however. I dunno what he deserves. But he didn't deserve for one of his lawyers to be crook. Esp. one who was on such a witch hunt not so long ago.

28. I hate to defend Starr
but he might be totally innocent here. First, the jurors may well have changed their story due to pressure from law enforcement. That has happened a time or two. Second, the investigator may well be a liar. In either case, Starr isn't the problem.

45. Well, I do this kind of work for a living. I'm an investigator and I work
almost strictly on capital cases, many of them in post-conviction after the person is on death row. I can tell you that this may be nothing because I have had many a juror sign an affidavit for me and then try to come back later and deny it when confronted by an AG. The jurors are very intimidated when the AG comes back and puts pressure on them about helping a "brutal killer get off death row." I certainly can't say whether there was any foul play with these affidavits or if the AG is just hyping up some limited info, but I think it is way too early to judge.

I wonder why they would send a letter instead of getting an affidavit, but I would also wonder why they would fake a letter because they aren't stupid enough to think they could get away with faking documents. Anyone can write a letter to the governor regarding clemency, so I would need a lot more detail to understand exactly what is going on here.

I really don't like what Ken Starr did with regard to Clinton, but I have heard a lot about what he has been doing for people on death row throughout the country and I am shocked to be saying this, but I'm pretty impressed. I basically used to hate the guy, but I have to give him some credit for the work he has done with regard to capital punishment in the last few years.

48. Very true. I'm sure his "friends" are not happy. I just read this story
and the attorney, David Senior, is standing by the sworn statements from the jurors. This is why I always try to take a second person with me when I do a juror interview. I have had some completely lie and say that I told them I was from the DA's office before as well.

They should be able to do a handwriting analysis on these signatures and see if they are the same or not.
