Sen. Dodd on funreal: "Statements made that shouldn't have been made"
We'll they've done it again. In trying to "defend" the King funeral on Imus, Sen. Chris Dodd just said: "Sure there were statements made that shouldn't have been made, but overall it was a great event."

Why don't these people get it? There was no reason to echo the GOP spin and apologize for somerhing that needed no apology or "distancing." Why not just say "It was a gresat event..." without the caveat.

Pardon me, I've got to go get some aspirin before I start banging my head on the desk.

2. he also announced he is thinking of running for President
in 2008. How does he think he can win without the Black vote?

Perhaps we need to tell him that no one is going to support
his sorry butt because of this type of thing.

6. The media is so out of touch,...
...that I actually believe that they think that everybody thinks the way that they do.

They spend so much time glorifying george w. bush that I think that their belief is that that is the purpose of EVERY event! Almost like their attitiude was "O.K. with Mrs. King, but wasn't it WONDERFUL that the COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF was there? WOW, What a guy!" :puke:

BTW, I'm a Democrat, and I will NOT apologize for what I've just said!

5. Just ignore the comments Sen. Dodd.....
Or how's about just saying I'm here to talk about issues as they relate to the government, or live's, the way we live.

Not to get bogged down in answering every distraction concocted by the right wing republican party....

They don't want the people to see the truth about their agenda...

Just like the Wizard of Oz, they want you to not notice what is really going on in America today....

7. You know
it sounds to me like we are going to have to blast each and everyone of these representatives every time something happens just so they know. I am not making excuses for them but I don't think they have any idea most of the time what anyone outside of their little group is thinking.

Is it possible that they are the biggest victims of the Bush** media? Do they know? It seems to me that anyone who thinks would see this funeral as a tribute and leave it at that. Do they really think that everyone out here is so pro Bush** that they have to run scared all the time?

Just ramdom thoughts before coffee and head banging.

9. An even worse possibility -- Maybe they agree with the spin
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 08:11 AM by Armstead
Maybe they are so compromised that they actually do believe some of the apologist crap they say.

Maybe Dodd did feel that "statements shouldn;t have been made." Maybe he felt it was inappropriate to pointedly bring up civil rights and poverty at a funeral for a civil rights leader.

I guess we're banging our heads in stereo.

10. Exactly...NO FUCKING APOLOGIES.
One of the things that drove me nuts was how Howard Dean shriveled up and got apologetic after the "Dean Scream." The whole time I was saying that he should have been on every network saying that it was exactly what he intended to do.

We shouldn't be apologizing for fucking anything anymore.

12. sWhite boys saying what should and shouldn't have been said???
Just love it when those who didn't attend either the Wellstone or the Coretta Scott King Memorial services nor viewed them via during the actual live services feel compelled critique it.

You know that if they reviewed the taping if they reviewed it at all, they only looked for those moments/speakers which Karl Rove earmarked for personal attacks. The Rove daily script went out and the obvious happened again.

Wanna bet that O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, Malkin, Coulter, Chris Mathews, Don Imus and his obnoxious co-hort Bernie, etc., have never attended a black Memorial/funeral service in their lives. They only know the very dismal traditional wasp funeral service.....a very very boring preacher man who has found him/herself with a trapped audience rains endless phrases from the bible, a wannabe Mahalia Jackson sings an off-key hymn of going home, etc.

I've just about had it with these Vichy Dems. I can't decide if their failure is the result of low intellect, small mindedness or both.

16. Torture and abuse
Once again, the torture and abuse tactics of the Cons manage to eke out a soundbyte for their howls of outrage. That is pretty much how I see it, anyway...torture and abuse. They scream, howl, and verbally abuse until a Democrat steps up and says 'Uncle'. The sooner the Democrats learn that fighting back to break this cycle of abuse, the better!

The next time one of those Cons feigns an innocent "I don't understand why there is such an intesely high level of partisanship!", I want to see a Democrat hold up a mirror for them.

22. In fairness, he was asked, tried to avoid it by talking about
his future CT 2010 run, than essentially said maybe. Although all the candidates considering it have said things, like it's too early - have PACs set up and they've been to NH and Iowa. Maybe he just feels left out with so many people on the SFRC running - Democrats; Kerry, Feingold, and Biden abd Republicans; Hagel and Allen.

20. The King Family needs to issue a statement.
and we need to read it over and over again. their offense (or non-offense) is the only one that matters at their mom's funeral.
