4. might not?
I guess that explains why somebody supposedly was going to try to blow open a cockpit door with a shoe bomb.

3. Was there ever any proof of a plot, or just the rantings of a
man in pain? I didn't believe the kooky story this morning, and I believe it less now. The liars cannot be trusted.

5. I'm sure the Republicans will spin this
The question is, how blatant will they be? Will they say "We got the story by torture, so torture works"?

6. call your congressmen and ASK them to find out what happened
if we keep asking LOGICAL questions about illogical rationale offered by the administration MAYBE they will realize that the people KNOW the emperor has no clothes.

This might prompt concerns over their own "perception" by the public/voters

perhaps? At least it would remind them that there are VOTERS out there who are watching.

8. So they used warrantless wiretaps to torture him?
Argh - don't tell me. Bush LIED AGAIN. :puke:

Guess if torture was responsible, his argument that warrantless wiretaps saved the day goes out the window.

Guess the torture explains why the LA Mayer never heard about the false alarm - why bother alerting him to fake tips extracted through torture?

12. Bob Schieffer was great!
The choice dialog was something like this:

Reporter: They got the information using strenous interrogation techniques...

Schieffer: You mean they tortuted him?

Reporter: Uh, if that's what you want to call it.

13. bush as much said it in his speech, I think - "spying and torture ok"
Edited on Thu Feb-09-06 11:18 PM by Skip Intro
it was a dopey defense of the illegal spying, with a rediculous defense of torture thrown in at the end

the way I read it, bush's was just like an effort to pave the way for this kind of shit from the media - the ground work for the newest big lie

I'm going to find that thread.....

"detainee debreifings" - a defense of torture? :

I also think that it's a reminder of the importance of detainee debriefings. It's only by getting this information and combining that with other sources and methods in the intelligence community that we can truly understand the intentions of our enemies and their tactics. And so we have to be careful to protect them, but that is one of the most important techniques that we have. I would also say while we have heard many criticisms of our intelligence community, this is an absolute success story of the intelligence community in general, and CIA, in particular.

14. so let's reveiw the assertions & comments
1. we're told a terrorist intended to blow up his shoe to get the pilot to fly the plane into a building in L.A.
2. WH never contacted local govt. in L.A. to tell them about it
3. terrorist who gave this info was tortured and thus probably was just making shit up to get them to stop

Sigh

16. Why use torture when Osama had already said those attacks were aborted?
Don't you remember osama saying that he had called off several other attacks on 9/11 because he felt it would be too difficult to carry them out and he wanted to concentrate on the NYC and DC? Is sum, we (the US/Bush) didn't stop anything...they were called off. What we learned about was attacks that were called off. So how is that preventing an attack. After they were called off, do you really think that our enemy is stupid enough to come back at us in the SAME way? Only the people who support Bush and want to believe his lies will believe this story.
