WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 — A House Republican whose subcommittee oversees the National Security Agency broke ranks with the White House on Tuesday and called for a full Congressional inquiry into the Bush administration's domestic eavesdropping program.

The lawmaker, Representative Heather A. Wilson of New Mexico, chairwoman of the House Intelligence Subcommittee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence, said in an interview that she had "serious concerns" about the surveillance program. By withholding information about its operations from many lawmakers, she said, the administration has deepened her apprehension about whom the agency is monitoring and why.

Ms. Wilson, who was a National Security Council aide in the administration of President Bush's father, is the first Republican on either the House's Intelligence Committee or the Senate's to call for a full Congressional investigation into the program, in which the N.S.A. has been eavesdropping without warrants on the international communications of people inside the United States believed to have links with terrorists.

I'm sure we'll find out soon.

12. Wow! I'm impressed!
I've seen Wilson appear on Maher's Real Time and she always seems to echo the typical Bush 'stay the course' mantra. So for her to come out and say that she has doubts about this program, to me, is impressive!

Actually there should be many more Republicans doing the same, I guess I'm just surprised that she would be one of the first.

Ok, so who's next? Who will be the next to support their country over their party?

14. Not to be a jerk but I hope lots of Repubs DO get Swift Boated
The sooner Republicans can see how ruthless their own party leadership is, and how fast they are willing to cut throats over partisan politics, even at the expense of the U.S. Constitution, the faster the extremist wing of the GOP will crumble.

SIC 'EM, KARL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16. now THAT's intriguing . . . to say the least . . .
there MUST be at least a few powerful Republicans willing to say "Enough!" and take a stand against BushCo and all their illegalities . . .

looks like there might be at least one . . .
