ReddHedd at firedoglake -- "Murtha truly is the real deal."
John Amato has a fantastic article up regarding a meeting with Rep. John Murtha:

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/02/07.html#a7054

Amato had an opportunity to talk with Jack Murtha at Arianna's home, and you walk away from this article with the feeling that Murtha truly is the real deal. Here is a man who served his nation in uniform proudly, and then suited up for public service in Congress -- never realizing he would have to do battle with a President of the United States and his crew of hatchet men to defend his own honor and the safety of the military men and women Murtha has worked so hard for over the years.

2. 1-888-818-6641 SUPPORT MURTHA on IRAQ
1-888-818-6641 Capitol Switchboard

He's the ONLY person in Congress with a resolution to redeploy troops out of Iraq. Let him know you support his efforts.

Wednesday February 1, 2006
The Honorable George W. Bush
President of the United States of America
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington DC 20500

Dear Mr. President,

This March will mark the beginning of the 4th year of the war in Iraq. In contrast, U.S. involvement in WWI came to an end after 19 months. Victory in Europe was declared in WWII after 3 years 5 months. In the Korean War, a cease-fire was signed after 3 years and 1 month. But after more than three and a half years into the war in Iraq, your administration finally produced what is called a "Plan for Victory" in Iraq.

Iraq is not the center for the global war on terrorism. I believe Iraq has diverted our attention away from the fight against global terrorism and has depleted the required resources needed to wage an effective war. It is estimated that there are only about 750 to 1,000 al-Qaeda in Iraq. I believe the Iraqis will force them out or kill them after U.S. troops are gone. In fact, there is now evidence that Iraqi insurgent groups are increasingly turning against al-Qaeda and other foreign terrorists.

Redeploy, Replace, Reallocate, and Reconstitute.

4. A Huffington: "The Murtha Effect: Why Republicans Are Worried"
Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 05:28 PM by understandinglife
For further evidence of why Democrats should be falling in behind Jack Murtha and making him the point man for nationalizing the '06 elections, look no further than the editorial page of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

After steadfastly deriding Murtha's call for immediately withdrawal, the conservative daily, fast on the heels of Murtha's Jan. 15th appearance on "60 Minutes," did an abrupt 360 and offered a ringing endorsement of his plan.

What makes this so significant is not the Tribune-Review's reach (circulation 102,000) but its provenance. It's part of a seven-paper chain that is published -- and controlled -- by Richard Mellon Scaife, the arch-conservative icon who has donated so much money to conservative causes and institutions that the Washington Post dubbed him the "Funding Father of the Right."

Close the DLC. Place Murtha, Conyers, Feingold ... in front of the Party and never apologize for painting Republicans for the lying, cheating, war mongering, imperialist, Constitution-trashing traitors that they are.

Peace.
