Stopping a young Republican on a Snowy Day. by R. "Botany" Frost
Based on a true story.

On this snowy day a young republican stopped by,
the owner of the house he did not know.
(She died more then a year ago)
so i asked him, why to that house he wanted
to go?

Oh, I didn't think she would mind me stopping here
because I am on a mission .... nothing bad .....
...... to you I want to make that clear.

I wanted her to sign this thing
because for State Senator I want to
run ..... the vote is in the spring.

My little brain did think it queer
for him to stop by that house
and I said she is not home, I fear.

So this 20 something year old lad
asks if I wanted to sign
the thing he had.

I asked the man what party he was
from and he smiled and said "I am
a republican," and then he looked real dumb.

I said a republican lad of your tender age
should be in Army and Iraq ...
You know those terrorists, you can engage.

His looked at me with some dread
I could tell he was thinking
"If I went to Iraq, I could wind up dead."

So he ran back to the car driven by his mother
or maybe some different grey haired women or an other.

The new snow is lovely soft dark and deep
and so many republicans that I can creep
and so many republicans that I can creep.

silly, the white rich kids from good families and good neighborhoods and good churches, they never have to go fight wars. They suffer strange childhoods filled with hypocrisy and do their turn "serving god and the church"... then they marry some young girl and after making lots of babies for the church and god, realizing they actually like their male bowling partner (usually Earl or Ned) more than they probably should.

meter in poetry is the rythm. the beat, so to speak.
